57 <br /> TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE <br /> IOctober 10, 1956 <br /> The fourthmeeting of the Town Celebrations <br /> Committee met in the Town Hall at 8 00 p.m , October <br /> 10, 1956, with the following members present Messrs <br /> Gustin, Peirce, Rooney, Gagne, Albertine, Mesdames <br /> Cheever and Litchfield <br /> The meeting opened with reports <br /> Mrs. Pfaff of the League of Women Voters re- <br /> ported for the committee selling the U N Cook Books COOK BOOKS <br /> A tent will be erected for their use on Wednesday <br /> afternoon, October 24, and on Thursday and Friday <br /> following, the books will be sold at the A & P and <br /> the First National Stores <br /> Joseph Donnelly reported for the Student <br /> Council They approved the idea of an Essay Con- STUDENT <br /> test for another year A tree will be planted at COUNCIL <br /> the High School October 24th in commemoration of U N <br /> Day Approximate time will be around 10 a.m , but <br /> I ! he will notify committee of exact time Mr Gustin <br /> will look into the matter of a plaque, which will be <br /> similar to those on the green <br /> Mr Albertine reported for the Council of <br /> Churches, that they had voted to participate in any <br /> way <br /> A motion was made and seconded that this <br /> committee write the clergy relative to U N Day, <br /> 1957, asking for their suggestions Motion carried <br /> Approval was given to L W V for distribution <br /> of non-partisan pamphlets on government on U N Day <br /> The April 19th parade was discussed briefly <br /> Father Casey of St Brigid' s Church is to be invited <br /> to our meeting on October 18th, to talk over arrange- <br /> ments so that the parade will not interfere with <br /> early morning masses Mr Rooney will contact Father <br /> Casey <br /> Eleanor Litchfield <br /> Secretary <br />
