51 <br /> TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE <br /> Eight of the nine members of the Town Celebra- <br /> tions Committee met in the Conference Room of Cary ORGANI- <br /> Hall, September 10, 1956 at 8 p.m Mr Bertram Gustin ZATION <br /> was chosen chairman; Mr Joseph Rooney, vice-chairman; <br /> and Mrs Edith B Cheever, temporary secretary Mrs. <br /> Melissa Williams gave her letter of resignation in favor <br /> of Mrs Rowena Robinson to Mr Gustin It was voted <br /> to accept her resignation with regret Mr Gustin <br /> asked that Mrs Cheever write to the Board of Select- <br /> men and enclose Mrs Williams' letter It was voted to <br /> suggest to the Board that our first choice would be Mrs <br /> Robinson and our second choice, Mrs Litchfield, and <br /> that the new member be appointed as soon as possible <br /> After a short discussion about April 19th in <br /> 1957 coming on. Good Friday, it was decided to put all UN Day <br /> our efforts at present to celebrating UN Day in Lex- <br /> ington We planned to hold an open meeting next week, <br /> September 18, in either the Conference Room or Esta- <br /> brook Hall Mrs. Cheever was asked to reserve the <br /> rooms and to write a news article inviting represent- <br /> atives from organizations in town Mrs Cheever was <br /> asked to individually invite Mrs Pfaff of the League <br /> of Women Voters and Miss McIntyre of the High School <br /> Meeting adjourned at 9 10 p.m <br /> Edith B Cheever <br /> Temporary secretary <br /> SII <br />
