43 <br /> TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE <br /> April 3, 1956 <br /> A special meeting of the Town Celebrations <br /> Committee was held on the evening of April 3 for one <br /> hour ( 7 30 - 8 30) in the American Legion Room APRIL 19th <br /> Those who were unable to attend were LaPorte, Gilles- <br /> pie, and Cheever <br /> Mr Lewis explained that Mrs. Rogers had asked <br /> a General Thomas D. ( not Williams) to be our guest of <br /> honor April 19 He read the letter he had typed and <br /> sent airmail to General White. <br /> Visitors to the meeting were Major Krogh and <br /> Lieutenant Graves of Bedford Air Base Mrs Williams <br /> was asked to write invitations to Commander Maude of <br /> Cambridge Research. Center, Col. D E.Newton,Jr , and <br /> Col Woodrow Dunlop Mr Lewis extended an invita- <br /> tion to Major Kroghto lunch with, the group of visi- <br /> tors at Hartwell Farm. <br /> Mr. Poehler reported that 28 boys had been <br /> selected from the elementary schools to form a small <br /> color guard under the training of Maurice Healey <br /> Mr. Sawyer reported on stands and decorations <br /> All is in readiness Mr Poehler is to have a sign <br /> LET IT BEGIN HERE done by the art department at the <br /> High School for the reviewing stand. <br /> Mr Foster reported that police protection has <br /> all been arranged with. Mr Rycroft <br /> Mrs Litchfield gave the names of the three <br /> jārlges- M-rs P-arsonsMr. Worthen, and- Mr Plummer.--She <br /> will work out a score card with Mrs Cheever for the <br /> judges It was felt by those present that the most <br /> points in scoring should be given to best expression <br /> and originality of the theme Publicity on this and <br /> request for merchant participation should be attended <br /> to at once <br /> Mr. Lewis said he would notify the High School <br /> bands that they were to arrange for their own trans- <br /> portation and send the bill to him <br /> Mrs Bernier suggested an idea for a "gimmick" : <br /> a fake money bill marked "Your Bill of Rights - Worth <br /> More than All the Money in the World" on one side and <br /> the Bill of Rights printed onthe other She had a <br />
