37 <br /> TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE <br /> March 12, 1956 <br /> The thirteenth regular meeting of the Town <br /> Celebrations Committee was held on the evening of <br /> March 12 in the American Legion Room with all members <br /> present except Mr Foster Mr Lewis reported that <br /> General MacArthur and his wife would not be able to <br /> come and be our guests of honor on April 19 After GUEST OF <br /> much discussion it was decided that Mr Lewis call HONOR <br /> Mrs . Rogers to ask for her help in finding a guest of <br /> honor for us, especially General Twining <br /> Mrs LaPorte came for the second visit to get <br /> final instructions for the early morning parade <br /> After reading Mr Belcher' s resignation Mr Lewis <br /> suggested that we invite Mrs LaPorte to take his <br /> place on the Committee It was so voted. <br /> Mr Lewis distributed copies of the schedule <br /> that he had made up as tentative. The Committee <br /> accepted it as tentative to become permanent <br /> Feports from various members included the <br /> following REPORTS OF <br /> COMMITTEES <br /> 1) Mr Sawyer - working on the stands and <br /> will take over the public address system, too <br /> 2) Mr. Gillespie - H S. bands accepted to <br /> date Woburn, Gloucester, Maynard, Needham, Lex- <br /> ington Junior and Senior <br /> 3) Mr Hutchins - finished invitations to <br /> military personnel will writenow_to-ROTC-and Band <br /> at University of Massachusetts <br /> I ) Mr Rooney - making plans for Fourth <br /> Division with maybe some teams onstilts and special <br /> bicycles for break in floats; also, will confer with <br /> Mr Lamont about how and where to go for cups or <br /> symbols for awards <br /> 5) Mrs Litchfield - will write to churches <br /> withbells right away <br /> 6) Mr Gustin - anxious for positive action <br /> of some kind for publicity. <br /> 7) Mrs Cheever - Acceptances so far <br />
