29 <br /> TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE <br /> January 24, 1956 <br /> The tenth regular meeting of the Town Cele- <br /> brations Committee was held on January 24 from 8 <br /> to 9 30 p.m in the American Legion Room of Cary <br /> Hall . Three new members were welcomed to the com- <br /> mittee to take places of three resignations Mrs <br /> Eleanor Litchfield, 57 Dexter Road; Mrs Florence NEW <br /> Bernier, 296 Bedford Street; and Mrs Rowena Robin- MEMBERS <br /> son, 80 Hancock Street Eight additional members <br /> were present Lewis, Cheever, Bashian, Foster, <br /> Gillespie, Sawyer, Williams, and Hutchins <br /> Mr Lewis opened the meeting with the <br /> acceptance of the minutes of the January 10 meeting <br /> as printed with the correction that Mr. Gillespie <br /> was present It was reported by the chairman that <br /> Mr. Gustin had sent invitations to 85 local organi- <br /> zations asking for representation at our Open Meet- <br /> ing to be held in Estabrook Hall on the evening of <br /> January 31 Mr Lewis expressed the hope that Mr <br /> Gustin would be well enough to talk to the group on <br /> that evening and invite their cooperation to cele- <br /> brate April 19 <br /> Mr Rooney would be asked to take charge of <br /> the floats in Division Four of the parade He FLOATS <br /> would be expected to speak briefly to the group in <br /> explanation of how the theme could be carried out <br /> on floats and set a date for submitting participa- <br /> tion <br /> Mr Poehler will be asked to announce the <br /> 7a1 a-s—me-anings—ef I-t tn—the "Lel, IL Begin. iriEivi.c, <br /> Here" as suggested by the school children, school <br /> personnel, and our committee members <br /> Mr Lewis will be in charge of the Open <br /> Meeting and will tell the representatives present OPEN <br /> of the committee 's desire to see the return of the MEETING <br /> children' s color guard in the hope that some or- <br /> ganization will be interested in sponsoring such a <br /> color guard either this or next year <br /> Mr Gillespie reported that many schools are <br /> having vacations during the week of April 19 and BANDS <br /> will not be able to enter the parade Gloucester <br /> has accepted, but Saugus wants $100 to participate <br /> The feeling of the members present was to send ex- <br />
