27 <br /> TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE <br /> January 10, 1956 <br /> The ninthregular meeting of the Town Cele- <br /> brations Committee was held in the Selectmen' s Room <br /> on the evening of January 10. Nine members were <br /> present Lewis, Cheever, Frothingham, Sawyer, Foster, <br /> Bashian, Gillespie, Hutchins, and Williams. The <br /> meeting was called to order at 8 12 p.m Mrs <br /> Cheever distributed copies of the minutes of the <br /> December 13th meeting and lists of important data <br /> covered so far in the Committee Resignations were RESIGNA- <br /> heard from Mr Giroux and Mr Butler Mrs Cheever TIONS <br /> had a letter from the Board of Selectmen asking us <br /> to suggest people to take the place of those re- <br /> signed We gave Mr Lewis five names of people to <br /> contact and report to the Board <br /> Mr Gillespie reported that two of the eight <br /> bands which he had invited to march in our April 19 REPORT <br /> parade had refused It was agreed that he should ON BANDS <br /> invite two others and continue in that way in case <br /> of any other refusals Other matters discussed <br /> briefly were the return of the color guard and the <br /> awarding of contest prizes on April 19 <br /> Since Mr Gustin has been ill over a week, <br /> the letters to organizations were not written and REPORT ON <br /> the publicity for the Minute-man reached the press PUBLICITY <br /> too late for printing last week. It thus became <br /> necessary for us to postpone our open meeting from <br /> the 17th to the 31st of January Mr Lewis prom- <br /> ised he would check on these matters with. Mr Gustin <br /> and—see—thatm ublic-i <br /> he-p y-and LheleLLo,•o WC,C'C <br /> taken care of immediately <br /> Mr Lewis said that it would be thoughtful of <br /> us to invite the Chief of Police to visit with us as <br /> soon as we have a definite schedule for the day. <br /> The American Legion offered us the use of <br /> their room in Cary Hall for the second and fourth MEETING <br /> Tuesday evenings of each month It was voted to DATES <br /> accept the offer and Mrs Cheever was asked to <br /> write to the Board of Selectmen informing them of <br /> our meeting plans and asking them to be sure the <br /> room was open for us on the following January 24, <br /> February 14, February 28, March. 13, March 27, and <br /> April 10 <br />
