25 <br /> LEXINGTON CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE <br /> December 13, 1955 <br /> The eighth regular meeting of the Town Cele- <br /> brations Committee was held in the Selectmen' s Room <br /> onthe evening of December 13 Nine members were <br /> present Mesdames Cheever and Williams, Messrs <br /> Bashian, Foster, Sawyer, Hutchins, Poehler, Gustin, <br /> and Gillespie. In the absence of the chairman, as <br /> chairman pro-tem Mr Foster called the meeting to <br /> order at 8 20 p.m The report of the November 15th <br /> meeting as recorded by Mr Dearborn was accepted as <br /> read Mr Gustin arrived and took over the meeting <br /> at 8 30 Mr Gustin volunteered to type the budget <br /> and give it to Mr Lewis to be filed with the Board <br /> of Selectmen <br /> Mr Gustin then had us help him make a list <br /> of all local organizations to which he would send <br /> letters inviting representatives to an open meeting <br /> on January 17 in Estabrook Hall Mr Gustin promised <br /> he would have publicity concerning our Committee in <br /> the January 5 Minute-man <br /> Mrs Cheever was asked to inquire from the <br /> Board of Selectmen as to the possibility of holding DATE OF <br /> meetings on the 2nd and Lith Tuesday of each month MEETINGS <br /> from now on In this way the public would know our <br /> meeting dates and could visit us at such times Your <br /> secretary was also asked to make up a brief summary <br /> of matters already discussed since the formation of <br /> the Committee and to send said summary along with <br /> minutes of the meeting to each member, the Board of <br /> Selectmen, and Adams Press <br /> The resignation of Mrs. Dodge was received <br /> with regret The matter of inviting President <br /> Eisenhower to Lexington on April 19 was tabled Mr <br /> Gillespie gave a report of progress on contacting <br /> bands <br /> Mr Lewis was asked to make arrangements to <br /> meet with. the Appropriation Committee concerning our <br /> budget Those asked to go with him were Cheever, <br /> Gustin, and Foster <br /> Mr Poehler reported on 1) the color guard REPORTS OF. <br /> its problems of uniforms and time for practice; 2) PROGRESS <br /> answers to a letter sent elementary principals con- <br /> -- cerning our theme; 3) list of ideas from pupils and <br />
