Barnes, Mtn led A <br /> Mr Fitsgerald and I,S; Er.11 <br /> VETERANS DAY <br /> The Committee members present made, seconded, and passed a n:o, i.c1n to allow <br /> the Veterans of Foreign Wars an amount of $50 00 toward the:; Veterans Day <br /> collation costs <br /> It was suggested that thank-you letters be sent to the following groups for <br /> their faithful and spirited support of our Veterans Day parade. They are as <br /> follows Campfire Girls Rainbow Girls, Girl Scout Drum Corps, and the High <br /> School Band. <br /> BI-CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION <br /> Chairman Kingston Howard's letter of the Bi-centennial Committee was gone over <br /> and discussed. On page one of his October 2nd letter under "A" and "B", the <br /> Committee raised several questions regarding (1) where exactly will the parade <br /> route go?; (2) an expanded budget is a must; (3) there is not enough manpower <br /> available to control, a "busses only" situation on Patriots Day <br /> Mr Feneke expressed himself by saying that our Town Celebrations Committee, <br /> should act under the direction of the Bi-centennial Committee, but that we <br /> shoe.ld not be subservient to the Bi-centennial Committee. <br /> On page two of Mr Howard's letter, the Committee discussed in particular his <br /> paragraph two beginning with the words "Specifically related to Patriots <br /> Day " The Committee feels that if it is the intent of the Ba-centennial <br /> Committee to use this paragraph in the way itis written, then the Commitee <br /> feels that the Bl-Centennial Committee might as well take care of the details <br /> of that _is., itself We will accept the Hi Centennial Committee's direction, <br /> but we feel we are capable to function on our own. <br /> Mr Barnes,, Chairman. or our Committee, will &aft a letter, barred on the <br /> discussions held at this meeting, in response to Mr Howard's October 2nd <br /> letter This draft will be discussed, revisions made if necessary, and <br /> fc1 al Committee approval will be made, these acts to :crake place at our next <br /> TC , meeting on Thursday, November 9th at 7.30pm in the Legion 751.cm r in Cary <br /> Rah Xn addition, Mr Michelson of the Parsde Advisory Committee will be <br /> as-ad to meet with us to talk about suggested parade routes <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Marilyn L.
