Minutes of Meeting
February 1, 2024

Business:
The meeting was called to order at 4:08 PM. The Chair declared that a quorum was present and
that the meeting was being held by Zoom.
The minutes of the meeting of January 4, 2024 were approved by roll call vote.
Approval of Lexington DAR Plaque Recommendation
By unanimous roll call vote, the committee approved the chair’s final report to the Select Board
recommending approval of the Lexington DAR Plaque Commemorating the Semiquincentennial
of the Battle of Lexington, to be installed in the rear of Buckman Tavern.
Lex250
The Town of Lexington will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington in
2025. Four members of the M&M Committee attended a town wide meeting at the Community
Center. Highlights of the meeting were:
The 250 Monument will be sited at the Belfry Park
There are 38 proposals submitted for the monument
John Parker’s birthday yet to be decided due to calendar issues
There were 700 Minutemen in 1775, how many will be in 2025?
Many other ideas were discussed
Database
We need to finish the database and give it out in “Working version” to various organizations and
share it with the Lex250 Committee. Our tentative goal is Memorial Day 2024
Website
Website needs to be optimized for smartphones.
Monument Restoration
We discussed the issue of Monument Restoration. Currently DPW does not have a budget for
monument restoration. A Maintenance Fund needs to be started. To be discussed with DPW.
Other
Linda has asked Jonas Miller, Director of Communication, for ideas for a M&M logo design.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m. by roll call vote. Next meeting March 7th, 2024.
