Minutes of Lexington Lighting Options Committee, Wed 12/19/90 7: 30
p.m. Rm. G-1. John Davies, Bob Domnitz, Myla Kabat-
Zinn, Peter Kovner, Don Olson.
1. Bob Domnitz reported on zoning by-laws info sheet. He showed
two versions of info sheet on lighting regulations to Planning
Board. They liked the more complete version. They felt a
disclaimer should be put on the bottom saying this is merely a
"guide" to regulations. When electrical permits are handed out,
this should be given with them. Artwork (pictorial examples of
do's and don'ts will hopefully be redone by Bob Ossman.
2 Regarding lighting policeman in the Center, letter was sent by
Don Olson to Rick White. As yet we have not received any response.
Myla will call Peter Chalpin to follow up
3 . Discussed proposal between Town and Boston Ed for changeover to
High Pressure Sodium Vapor lights. The consensus was that the Jan.
7th date was unrealistic given magnitude of the issue and given the
Holidays. It was felt an indepth analysis of this offer and other
options would be needed. It was proposed that the meeting be put
off till the week of 1/14/. Myla will call the town manager to
propose this.
4 Things we need to look at:
-buying out our system Including what other towns have done.
-look at lumen levels in Boston Ed. proposal
-alternative energy efficient lights and fixtures
-what choices do we have with Boston Ed?
We will share our information with Rick White and Dick Spiers
before we meet with them.
It was felt we need clarification from DPW on what $67, 000 increase
is?
We will meet again after we get our figures checked and before
meeting with Town officials.
Myla Kabat-Zinn
Acting Chair
LLOC
1/3/91
