Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy called the March 7, 2024 Historic Districts Commission meeting to
order at 6:03pm.
FORMAL HEARING
Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the formal hearing for 1575 Massachusetts Avenue, exterior
alterations (Solar Canopy) in the Battle Green Historic District

The applicants explained the proposed revised edge details of Solar Canopy at 1575 Mass Ave.
The Commission felt this application was appropriate. Robert Adams has been served as liaison for this
application.
William Erickson, resident of 31 Sherman St, Jill Melendez Young, resident of 1556 Mass Ave, and
Ignacio Fanlo, resident of 1536 Mass Ave, expressed their concerns for solar canopy.

The applicants explained the proposed National America 250 Patriots Marker for the 250th Anniversary
of the American Revolution plans at 33 Marrett Rd.
The Commission agreed to continue this application to April with detailed site plan because of location
issues. Some Commissioners suggested to move the proposed marker into the corner. Edward Adelman
and Paul O’Shaughnessy will serve as liaison for this application.
Julie Krakauer Moore, Zoning Administrator, stated the application will be approved by ZBA subject to
HDC approval. She also suggested to get a detailed site plan showing the location of the sign with setbacks
from the lot lines from Marrett Rd and Mass Ave.
Richard Elliot, Executive Director of Scottish Rite Masonic Museum, stated he supported this proposed
marker and will help to get a detailed site plan.
Jerry Michelson, Chair of a Lexington Center Committee, stated that he supported the proposed National
America 250 Patriots Marker.

The applicants explained the proposed fence installation at 6 Locust Avenue.
The Commission felt this application was appropriate with the fence along a portion of the approved
boundary between properties at 6 Locust Avenue and 996 Massachusetts Avenue should be stopped at the
corner of the barn.
Sipra Jain & Atul Jain, residents of 996 Mass Ave, expressed their concerns regarding the fence along
with his lot for his barn preservation.
Julie Krakauer Moore, Zoning Administrator and fence viewer, recommended to shorten the fence back
to the corner of the barn so that the owners of 996 Mass Ave can maintain the barn on their side as required.
She stated that the proposed fence must be on the land of 6 Locust Avenue. She suggested to move the
fence back from the lot line.
Victoria Rothbaum, resident of 9 Locust Avenue, Bradley and Sheena Rosenfeld, residents of 7 Locust
Avenue, David Vendetti, resident of 964 Mass Ave, stated that they support the proposed fence installation
plans.
Motion was granted and seconded to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior changes to
6 Locust Avenue. Motion carried, all in favor.
