RECEIVED <br /> SELLCTM EN <br /> 1981 <br /> JTz Lexington Center Revitalization Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting of August 12, 1981 <br /> The Center Revitalization Committee convened August 12, 1981 in the Selectmen's <br /> Meeting Room at 7 40 p.m. Those present were Tom Dyer, Bob Sacco, Karsten Sorensen, <br /> Marjory Battin, Laura Nichols, Bob Bowyer (Planning Director) Jacquie Smith <br /> arrived a bit later Absent were Larry Chait, Joe Trani, and Fred James, a new <br /> member <br /> A subcommittee was appointed to oversee a telephone shopper survey (relative to <br /> the central business district) to be conducted by the League of Women Voters, if <br /> and when their Board of Directors confirms the project This subcommittee consists <br /> of Battin, Smith, Dyer and Chait (or Sacco if Chait declines) Bea Phear's name <br /> was mentioned as a good resource person, since she has had experience with a ques- <br /> tionnaire for the Council on Aging It was agreed that Marjory Battin would ask <br /> the Town Manager if we can use some of Bea's time for advice on this project <br /> A member of this subcommittee will draft a letter to the League explaining the <br /> project and ask for their Board's approval The League would do the survey and <br /> follow-up The subcommittee will meet Tuesday, September 1 It is hoped to have <br /> Mr Costello of MAPC present to discuss the project and who should analyze the <br /> survey. <br /> Voted 21 spaces on the railroad track side of the Meriam Street parking lot <br /> for two-hour parking This decreases the number of spaces in the Meriam Street <br /> lot from 240 to 219. <br /> A session on scoring of parking lot fees was conducted in regard to the various <br /> lots under consideration should we be able to rent them. It was decided to broaden <br /> the test scoring to include a select group of the Chamber of Commerce which would <br /> represent different opinions and different geographic locations Jacquie Smith <br /> and Bob Sacco will take on this query. <br /> A tight schedule is in effect with November as a target date for changes and im- <br /> plementation. Planning Director Bob Bowyer will write to the Board of Selectmen <br /> stating the tentative rates and ranges to be charged for the various lots and <br /> await the Chamber of Commerce input. A final decision should be made by Sept 9 <br /> All other lots are permit lots except the Meriam Street lot, which will be by <br /> ticket machine (will relate to other rates set) <br /> Fees for the permit lots will be charged Monday - Saturday, 10C an hour for the <br /> first 4 hours and (approximately) 7 1/2G an hour after that <br /> September 9 is the next committee meeting. <br /> OVS MORN/NO <br /> Laura Nichols " gg <br /> Rotating Secretary <br /> mi 19 <br /> 1625 MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE • LEXINGTON.
