AUDITORS' REPORT
THE Auditors have examined all the bills and accounts furnished
them by the Selectmen, including a copy of the settlement with the
Treasurer, and find them generally correct. It is very difficult and
perplexing to arrive at a balance in a proper way, owing mainly, to the
practice of settling with the Treasurer before the close of the financial
year ; and they would earnestly recommend that the annual settlement
with the Treasurer be hereafter deferred till the last day of March,
which, by a vote of the town passed in 1858, is the expiration of the
financial year.
