Pierce, GC 15 00 Galen Allen, GL15 00 Total cost of repairs of highways $ 978 50 The foregoing sum having been drawn from the treasury of the town, — by order of the Selectmen, on the above account, for repairs made under the direction of the board of overseers, whose whole disbursements and receipts were balanced under the head of over- seers— no additional charge is made against the town for what pur- ports to be the expense of road repairs. The effect of charging the road with this $ 978 50, is to reduce the otherwise seeming expense of the Almshouse, and to explain the seeming double charge of pay- ing for labor on the roads.
