Rowse, Chairman of Appropriation, presents Ap- <br />propriation Committee's Report, same accepted and placed on <br />file. <br />REPORT OF THE <br />APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE <br />The Appropriation Committee makes the following report <br />with reference to the articles contained in the 'Town Warrant <br />elated October 7,1935: <br />Article 1. The Appropriation Committee makes no recom- <br />mendation under this article. <br />Article 2. The Appropriation Committee recommends fav- <br />orable action on this article. <br />Article 3. The Appropriation Committee recommends ap- <br />propriations and transfers from Excess and Deficiency Ac- <br />count as follows: <br />Public Welfare $8,000.00 <br />Snow Removal 3,000.00 <br />124 TOWN OF LEXINGTON <br />Article 4. The Appropriation Committee recommends that <br />under this article the sura of $1,200.00 be appropriated and <br />transferred from the Sewer Assessment Fund for Sewer Con- <br />struction Sundry Streets. <br />Article 5. The Appropriation Committee recommends that <br />under this article the sum of .°4,000.00 he appropriated and <br />transferred from Excess and Deficiency Account for labor, <br />materials and other expenses on Public Works for aid of per- <br />sons employed under the Works -Progress Administration or <br />similar agencies. This anioruli of $44,0110.00 is to carry through <br />until April 1, 1930 so that money will be available until the <br />1n-'xt animal town meeting. <br />Article G. The Appropriation Committee recommends fav- <br />orable action on this article. <br />Article 7. The Appropriation Committee recommends fav- <br />orable action 00 this article and further recommends that the <br />sum of ,$93,000.00 he appropriated 0 M that the money therefor <br />be provided by the issuance of bonds to he matured over 11 pe- <br />riod of tell years. <br />Article 8. 'I'lre Appropriation Conimittee does not approve <br />the <br />11elo0o11 of this article for the following reasons : <br />1- because present enrollment figures in the Lexington <br />graded schools show that there would he no need of additional <br />I3ig11 School accommodations to tale care or aur own pupils <br />for at. (east six years. <br />2. Because very heavy bonded indebtedness is coming due <br />in the next four years as follows: <br />1936 $118,000.00 <br />1937 106,000.00 <br />1938 97,000.00 <br />1939 95,500.00 <br />These figures will of course be increased if the town votes <br />10 proceed with the construction of the sanitary sewer and sur- <br />face drain as provided by Article 7, and if a bond issue is voted <br />under that article to he paid over _rt ten year period the fore- <br />goilig figures for maturing debt for the years 193G to 1939 in- <br />clusive will have to be increased each year by the aniomnt of <br />$9,300.00. <br />
