TOWN OF LEXINGTON 35 <br />TOWN MEETING <br />March 17, 1924 <br />The meeting was called to order by Moderator, Robert <br />H. Holt, at 7.30 P. M. <br />ART. 28. On motion of James G. Robertson, Chair- <br />man of the Appropriation Committee it was voted that this <br />article be re -opened. <br />It was then stated that the Appropriation Committee <br />approve the appropriation of $13,000. <br />On motion of James G. Robertson, it was VOTED, that <br />the action of the meeting at its last session appropriating <br />$13,000 for securing plans and bids for new school house be <br />ratified and approved. <br />Art. 4 On motion of Edward C. Stone, Edward Leavitt <br />and James J. Sullivan were elected Field Drivers. <br />ART. 16. Under this article James G. Robertson, <br />Chairman of the Appropriation Committee offered the fol- <br />lowing motion: <br />"VOTED, that this article be referred to the Select- <br />men." Robert P. Clapp offered the amendment that the <br />Selectmen be empowered to act if in their judgment it was <br />necessary. <br />Mr, Clapp's amendment was passed and the original <br />motion as amended was passed by vote of the meeting. <br />ART. 18. (Slaughter Inspection). On motion of <br />Albert H. Burnham this article was laid on the table. <br />AFT. 31. Under this article Charles H. Spaulding <br />offered the report of the Committee appointed October 8, <br />1323, to consider the matter of repairs upon and the moving <br />of the Stone Building. <br />The report <br />ted and placed <br />on file; and of <br />thefollow ng votee offered bye was pMr. Spaulding <br />was passed. <br />"Voted : that the report of the committee on repairs to <br />the Stone Building be accepted and their recommendations <br />adopted, and that the sum of sixteen hundred dollars <br />3G AR" Y[ AL REPORT <br />($1600) be appropriated and assessed to cover the cost of <br />the repais, this amount to be expended in addition to the <br />four hundred dollars (8400) appropriated at the previous <br />meeting for repairs to the Stone building as contained in <br />the Library appropriation. That the money rbe expended <br />undo. the direction of the Library Trustees, and that this <br />committee be discharged." <br />ART. 21. On notion of Edwin A. Bayley it was, <br />"V.QTED. That the Selectmen be requested to have a.suit- <br />ai.le' case made for the preservation and display of the <br />.Memorial E'a.nne_ bearing the names of the eight men of <br />I,e eington whoa gave their lives for their country in• the <br />World War_ vrhich pas presented by the Welcome Ilome <br />Committee to the Town in February 1919, and that- the <br />same, be placed between the windows on the southeasterly <br />n•nll`et tlo main Town. Hall and that the sum of Fifty .(f50) <br />Dollars is hereby enp.ropriated and assessed to cover the <br />exi-Kinses connected therewith." <br />'ART. 35.• Dr. Fred S. Piper presented a written report <br />for the Committee on Honor Poll. The report was accepted <br />and placed on file. <br />On motion of Mr. Bayley it was then. "VOTED, that <br />the sum of f250 be arpropriated and assessed for the re- <br />novation and imnrovem.ent of said Honor Rall. and that <br />said renovation and improvement be carried out by the pre- <br />sent committee." <br />ART. 4. (Warrant of February 18. 1921) Edwin A_ <br />Bayley moved indefinite postponement of this article, and it <br />was so voted. <br />ART. 3. Edwin P,, Worthen speaking for the 150th <br />Anniversary Committee. stated that Edward C. Stone had <br />been nominated as Chairman of the Commitee but that he <br />found that as long as he held the office of Town Counsel <br />he could not be chairman of the committee, but as soon as <br />he was relieved of dirties of Towyn Counsel he would be- <br />come Chairman of the Celebration Conmmitte of 1p2,5. Mr. <br />Worthen stated that he had taken measures to secure the <br />cooperation of the Town of Concord. <br />Mr. Worthen then offered the following motion which <br />was Passed unanimously. <br />VOTED. that the TMVP. th.ro i 011 its Counsel petition <br />the Legislature for legislation to authorize the anpronri- <br />atinn of money, for the observance of the one hundred lift <br />ieth anniversary of the Battle of Lexington. <br />
