Police Department, 6,500.00 <br />Nineteenth of April, <br />Voted, That the sum of $300.00 be appropriated and assessed <br />100.00 for School Physician for the ensuing year as required by Chap. 502, <br />Sec. 1, of the Acts of 1906. <br />On the above item the recommendation was $50.00, but the <br />amount was finally made $100.00 by amendment of Clarence H. <br />Cutler; the amount to be expended under the direction of the <br />Board of Selectmen or a committee appointed by them. <br />For Salary of Auditor, who shall also serve <br />as Town Accountant, and out of sum <br />provided he shall pay for all clerical <br />assistance required, $500.00 <br />For Care of Common, 250.00 <br />($200.00 for general care, and balance for phosphate or other <br />suitable dressing.) <br />Salaries of Overseers of Poor, <br />(Each member to be paid $100.00.) <br />Salaries of Surveyors of Highways, <br />(Each member to be paid $100.00.) <br />Salaries of Selectmen, 400.00 <br />($200.00 to be paid to the chairman and $100.00 each to the <br />other two members.) <br />300.00 <br />300.00 <br />Voted to lay remainder of Article 13 on table until next meeting. <br />ART. 14. On motion of Edwin B. Worthen it was <br />Voted, That on all taxes for 1911 paid on or before December <br />1, 1911, a discount of one half of one per cent shall be allowed for <br />each full month of prior payment. Taxes unpaid December 1st <br />shall be charged interest at the rate of 6% per annum thereafter, <br />and all taxes shall become due December 31, 1911. The Tax <br />Collector is hereby instructed to collect all taxes on or before that <br />date. <br />ART. 15. On motion of Alonzo E. Locke it was <br />ART. 16. On 'notion of Frederick L. Emery it was <br />Voted, That the sum of $600.00 be appropriated and assessed <br />for the construction of sidewalks of concrete or other material where <br />the abutters will pay one half the expense thereof. <br />ART. 17. On motion of Edward P. Merriam it was <br />Voted, That the sum of $800.00 be appropriated and assessed <br />for the suppression of the elm leaf beetle, the work to be conducted <br />under the direction of the present Moth Committee. <br />Arthur E. Horton spoke in opposition and Edward P. Merriam, <br />William P. Martin and William C. Stickel in favor. Arthur E. <br />Horton spoke to a question of personal privilege. Edward P. <br />Merriam raised a point of order wnich the Moderator ruled not well <br />taken. <br />ART. 18. On motion of Frederick L. Emery it was <br />Voted, That the town Iay edgestones along Massachusetts <br />avenue in front of the Stetson estate, from the corner of Massachu- <br />setts avenue and Merriam street to the junction of Hancock and <br />Bedford streets, and on the southerly side of Merriam street from <br />Massachusetts avenue to the easterly houndry of land of the Boston <br />& Maine Railroad, the abutters to pay one half the total cost <br />thereof ; and that the sum of $600.00 be appropriated and assessed <br />for the purpose. <br />Remarks in favor of the motion were made by Frederick L, <br />Emery, and in opposition by Arthur E.
