Lexington Town Records <br />WARRANT FOR A TOWN' MEETING. <br />MONDAY, February 10, 1908. <br />Tit CHARLES E. LVHEELEN, Constable of Lexington, GREET MC; : <br />In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are <br />hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of <br />Lexington, qualified by law to vote in town affairs, to assemble at <br />the Town Hall, on Monday, the tenth day of February, A. D., 1908, <br />at 7.80 o'clock p. m., to act on the following Articles, viz. :— <br />ARTICLE 1. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting. <br />ART. 2. To see if the town will make a necessary appropriation <br />for the suppression of the Gypsy and Brown Tail Moths, in accord- <br />ance with Chapter 381, Acts of 1905 and amendments to the same, <br />or act in any manner relating thereto. <br />ART. 3. To see if the town will make an appropriation to pre- <br />serve the trees on the Water Works property on Liincoln street, or <br />act in any manner relating thereto. <br />Hereof fail not, and make tine return of this Warrant, with your <br />doings thereon, to the Town Clerk on or before the time of said <br />meeting. <br />Given under aur hands, at Lexington, this twenty-seventh day of <br />ianuary, A. WOODWARD, <br />Selectmen of Lexington. <br />10 <br />MEETING FEBRUARY 10, 1908. <br />Meeting called to order by the Town Clerk at 7.35 o'clock, who <br />read the Warrant and the return of the Constable thereon. <br />ARTICLE 1. On motion of Henry A. C. Woodward it was <br />Voted, To elect a Moderator; that the check list be used, and <br />that the polls be kept open three minutes. <br />At the close of the polls eight ballots had been cast, all for Edwin <br />A. Bayley, and he was declared elected and was sworn by the Town <br />Clerk. <br />Mr. A. H. Kirkland, Superintendent of the Gypsy Moth Commis- <br />sion, was present and by unanimous consent was invited to address <br />the meeting and explain the methods used in suppressing the moth <br />pest. <br />ART. 2. On motion al George W. 'Taylor it was <br />Voted, That the sum of $3,771.23 be appropriated and assessed <br />to meet the deficit incurred in 1907 for the suppression of Gypsy <br />and Brawn Tail Moths, and that the further sum of $2,759.64 be <br />appropriated and assessed for the suppression of Gypsy and Brown <br />Tail Moths for 1908. <br />ART. 3. On motion of Charles F. Carter it was <br />Voted, That the preservation of the trees on the Water Works <br />property on Lincoln street be especially referred to the Tree Warden. <br />Voted, To dissolve the meeting at 9.20 o'clock. <br />A true record.
