23 <br />ART. 18. On motion of Robert P. Clapp it was <br />Voted, That in order to comply with the requirements of Chapter <br />524 of the Acts of nineteen hundred and seven, as applied to the <br />current calendar year, the town hereby authorizes and directs Francis <br />W. Dean, Robert P. Clapp and George D. Milne, or their successors, <br />as Water Commissioners, to proceed to equip with meters, agreeably <br />to said Chapter and as rapidly as in their judgment may be practi- <br />cable, water services which were unmetered on Dec. 31st, 1907; <br />that they see that all water services hereafter installed are equipped <br />with meters as required by said Chapter; that they select for these <br />purposes, and purchase at the expense of the Water Department, <br />meters of such types and sizes as they may think most suitable; and <br />that in executing the directions of first clause of this vote they <br />select for the purpose such of the unmetered services as in their <br />judgment are in most urgent need of metering. Said meters shall <br />be and remain the property of the town and he subject at all times <br />to inspection and repair by its authorized officers or agents. The <br />rates to be paid for metered water shall, in the absence of a deter- <br />mination of them by vote of the town, be those from time to time <br />established by the Water Commissioners. Voted, further, that the <br />foregoing provisions shall not be construed as annulling the privi- <br />leges accorded water takers by vote passed Feb. 15, 1907, volun- <br />tarily to procure by application to the Water Board and in con- <br />formity with the requirements of that vote the installation of meters <br />upon their premises so as to receive metered service ; and the <br />meters so installed shall not be counted in determining the per- <br />centage of unmetered services changed to metered service under <br />the provisions of said Chapter 524. <br />ART. 19. On motion of Charles F. Carter it was <br />Voted, That the town vote to confirm the recommendation of <br />the Trustees of Cary Library, and that the name of said library he <br />changed to Cary Memorial Library. <br />ART. 22. On motion of Robert P. Clapp it was <br />• 24 <br />Voted, That the town hereby rescinds the vote passed at are <br />adjourned meeting held on April 7, 1902, under Article 27 of the <br />Warrant for said meeting (whereby the membership of the School <br />Committee was increased to six), and voted further, That at the <br />annual meeting for the election of town officers for the years 1909, <br />1910 and 1911, and annually thereafter, the town shall elect but <br />one member of the School Committee for the term of three years, so <br />that after the annual town election in the year 1911 there shall be <br />but three members of the School Committee. <br />Voted, To adjourn the meeting to Monday, March 23rd, at 7.30' <br />p. m. <br />Voted to adjourn, <br />ADJOURNED MEETING MARCH 23, 1908. <br />Meeting called to order by the Moderator at 7.35 o'clock p. m. <br />On motion of Alonzo E. Locke, Chairman of the Finance Com- <br />mittee, <br />ommittee, the following votes were passed <br />ARTICLE 6. Voted, That the sum of $200.00 be appropriated <br />and assessed for Memorial Day to be expended under the direction <br />of Post 119, G. A. R. <br />ART. 7. Voted, That the sum of $34,500.00 be appropriated <br />and assessed for the support of the Public Schools, with the earnest <br />request that the standard and efficiency of the High School bI <br />improved. <br />ART. 8. Voted, That the sunt of $1,500.00 be appropriated and <br />assessed for the support of the poor at the Poor Farm. <br />ART. 9. Votad, That the sum of $1,800.00 be appropriated and <br />assessed for the support of outside poor. <br />
