27 <br />ART. 24. G. H. Cutter moved that the sura of five hundred dol- <br />lars ($500) be appropriated and assessed, to commence the making <br />of surveys and plans of real estate in the town, as recommended by <br />the Assessors in their report, the same to be expended under the <br />direction of the Board of Assessors. Motion declared lost. <br />ART. 25. F. H. Holmes moved that the Selectmen employ an <br />engineer to lay macadam and establish grades, and that 16500 be ap- <br />propriated for the purpose. G. W. Sampson moved as a substitute <br />motion that the matter be left with the Board of Selectmen to be <br />elected March 21. Mr. Sampson's motion was declared carried. <br />ART. 7. On motion of E. S. Locke it was <br />Voted, That the town appropriate and assess the sum of two <br />hundred dollars ($200) for the proper observance of Memorial Day, <br />the same to be expended under the direction of Post 119, Grand <br />Army of the Republic. <br />ART. 6. The names of Christopher S. Ryan and Aril A. Wetherbee <br />were stricken from the list at their own request, and on motion of <br />G. D. Harrington it was <br />Voted, That the town accept the list of Jurors as submitted by <br />the Selectmen. <br />ART. 4. E. S. Locke moved that the Selectmen, acting with the <br />Water Commissioners, be authorized to sell any part of the water <br />plant not needed under the present system of water supply. A. E. <br />Scott moved as a substitute motion that the matter be committed to <br />a committee of three to be appointed by the Moderator, and Mr. <br />Scott's motion was declared carried. <br />The Moderator appointed the following committee : H. A. C. <br />Woodward, Charles F. Carter and James Barnes. <br />Voted, To adjourn the meeting to March 26 at 7.30 o'clock p. m. <br />Meeting adjourned at 10 o'clock. <br />28 <br />ADJOURNED MEETING, MARCH 26, 1904. <br />Meeting called to order by the Moderator at 7.30 o'clock p. m. <br />ARTICLE 5. Under this article the following officers were <br />chosen : Field Drivers, Charles E. Wheeler, Albern S. Chatfield, <br />Edwin A. Bayley; Fence Viewers, Abram B. Smith, Charles S. <br />Blodgett, George W. Buck; Surveyors of Lumber, George W. <br />Spaulding, Abbott S. Mitchell. <br />Voted, That the remaining officers be appointed by the Select- <br />men. <br />ART. 8. On motion of F. J. Garrison it was <br />Voted, That the sum of $28,161,65 be appropriated and assessed <br />for the Support of the Public Schools for 1904 and to provide for <br />the expenditure not covered by the appropriation for 1903. <br />ART. 9. On motion of H. H. Putnam it was <br />Voted, That $1500 be appropriated and assessed for the Support <br />of the Poor for 1904. <br />ART- 10. On motion of H. H. Putnam it was <br />Voted, That $3000 be appropriated and assessed for Outside <br />Poor for 1904. <br />ART. 11. On motion of G. O. Whiting it was <br />Voted, That $14,000 be appropriated and assessed for the High- <br />ways for 1904. On motion of A. E. Locke it was voted to recon- <br />sider the above vote, and on motion of A. E. Locke it was voted <br />that $14,000 be appropriated for the Highways, $10,000 to be <br />assessed and $4000 to be taken from the Bank and Corporation <br />Tax. <br />
