51 <br />ART. 3. On motion of G. W. Sampson it was <br />Voted, That the Boards of Selectmen and Assessors, acting jointly <br />be authorized to sell the Tidd, Franklin and Howard School Build- <br />ings in such manner and on such terms as may, in the judgment of <br />said Boards, be deemed for the best interest of the town. <br />ART. 4. On motion of G. W. Sampson it was <br />Voted, That the Selectmen be instructed to abate the nuisance <br />caused by the Rifle Shooting Range of the City of Cambridge, or <br />the Commonweatth of Massachusetts, or of owners unknown, and <br />that full authority and power be given the Board to use any means <br />consistent with law, to enforce the prohibition of such nuisance. <br />ART. 5. On motion of E. A. Bayley it was <br />Voted, To indefinitely postpone the subject. <br />ART. t5. H. G. Janvrin offered the following motion : <br />"'.That the town vote to change the name of the street now <br />known as Mt. Vernon Street extending from Percy Road to High- <br />land Avenue so that the two streets now known as Percy Road and <br />Mt. Vernon Street which together extend from Massachusetts <br />Avenue to Highland Avenue, shall bear the name of Percy Road <br />throughout." <br />G. W. Sampson moved that the subject be indefinitely postponed. <br />Mr. Sampson's motion was put and declared lost. The vote was <br />doubted by 7 votes and the house was polled with the following <br />result, in favor 65, against 89. <br />Mr. Janvrin's motion was then put and declared carried. <br />ART. 7 & 8. The committee appointed by the town to report <br />on additional Primary School accommodations offered a majority and <br />minority report, the first signed by Edwin $, Spaulding, Fred 5, <br />52 <br />Piper, Irving P. Fox and Alonzo E. Locke, and the last by George <br />S. Teague, (see Reports of Committees, page 508.) On motion of <br />E. P. Merriam it was voted that the reports be accepted and placed <br />on file. <br />G. W. Sampson offered the following motion : "That the minority <br />report of the committee be accepted, that its recommendations be <br />adopted and that the Treasurer be instructed to borrow $9000 to <br />be raised by notes of the town of $1000 each, payable on the 1st <br />day of January in the years 1905, 1906, 1907, 1908, 1909, 1910, <br />1911, 1912 and 1913, at such rates of interest as in the judgment <br />of said Treasurer can be procured consistent with the best possible <br />terms for the town." <br />G. W. Taylor moved as an amendment : "That the meeting <br />adjourn for one week, meantime plans of the minority be printed <br />and distributed to the voters together with estimates in detail by at <br />least three responsible builders." <br />E. P. Merriam moved as an amendment : "That in addition the <br />present committee be instructed to bring in new plans for school <br />accommodations to cost not more than $20,000, including land." <br />A. S. Mitchell moved : "That the whole subject be indefinitely <br />postponed." <br />Mr. Merriam's motion was put and declared lost. Mr. Taylor's <br />motion was put and declared lost. Mr. Sampson's motion was put <br />and declared lost. Mr. Mitchell's motion was put and declared <br />carried. <br />ART. 9. On motion of Charles Garrison it was <br />Voted, That the town change the name of that part of Warren <br />Street running West from the junction of Eliot Road to Eliot <br />Road. <br />
