<br />and land of George A. Graham, the same to constitute a widening
<br />of Woburn street, or act in any manner relaying thereto.
<br />ART. 25. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate a sum of
<br />money toward the abolition of the grade crossing of the Boston and
<br />Maine Railroad at Woburn street, or to pass such votes as may be
<br />necessary to effect such abolition of said grade crossing, or act in
<br />any manner relating thereto.
<br />ART. 26. To see if the Town will accept an extension of Mer-
<br />riam street, from its present terminus as accepted by the town across
<br />the estate of Francis B. Hayes to East street; also a street connect-
<br />ing with a street called Grant street, at present not accepted by the
<br />town, on a plan of lots of David W. Muxzey and continuing from said
<br />street on said plan from its present terminus on said plan to East
<br />street, or act in any manner relating thereto.
<br />ART. 27. To see if the Town will vote to increase the number of
<br />its School Committee to six members, of whom at least two shall be
<br />women, all of whom except the secretary of the committee shall
<br />serve without pay, or act in any manner relating thereto.
<br />ART. 28. To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money
<br />sufficient to enable the Committee on additional Water Supply to
<br />complete their work.
<br />Hereof fail not, and make due return of this Warrant, with your
<br />doings thereon, to the Town Clerk on or before the time of said
<br />meeting.

<br />MEETING MARCH 3, 1902.
<br />Meeting called to order at 7 o'clock. a. m., by the Town Clerk,
<br />who read the warrant and the return of the Constable thereon, and
<br />on motion of H. G. Locke, it was voted :
<br />ART. 1. That we proceed to elect a Moderator, by ballot, that
<br />the check list be used, and that the polls be kept open three minutes ;
<br />at the end of the time specified it was found that twenty—eight bal-
<br />lots had been cast, all of which were for Edward C. Stone, and he
<br />was declared elected, and was sworn by the Town Clerk.
<br />ART. 2 & 3. Abram B. Smith and Charles W. Swan having been
<br />appointed Ballot Clerks were sworn by the Moderator, and receipted
<br />to the Town Clerk for a package said to contain 1100 official ballots
<br />for male voters, and a package said to contain 200 official ballots for
<br />female voters. Irving Stone and Bartlett J. Harrington having been
<br />appointed deputy Ballot Clerks were sworn by the Moderator, the
<br />ballot box was shown to be empty, then locked, and the key deliver_
<br />ed to Wm. B. Foster, the Constable in charge, and the polls having
<br />been declared open the balloting commenced. Bradley C. Whitcher,
<br />Wm. H.Whitakcr, Howard M.Munroe, Francis Locke, Geo. %.Pierce,
<br />Francis M. Cobb, Chas. A. Fowle and John Moakley, having been
<br />appointed Tellers were sworn by the Moderator. At 10.11 a.m., 293
<br />ballots were taken from the box, and the 'Tilers began their labors.
<br />At 1.11, 144 ballots were ' taken out, at 2.55 63 ballots were taken
<br />out, at 4.45 100 ballots were taken out, and at 5 o'clock the Modera-
<br />tor declared the polls closed, the ballot box registered 611, the
<br />election officers then counted the number of names checked on each
<br />list, and the Moderator announced that 104 women appeared to have
<br />voted, and 607 men, the ballot box was then opened by the Modera-
<br />tor. and seven ballots taken out. When the Tellers had finished their
<br />tabulation the Moderator announced the result as follows :
