<br />While the waste water runs into cesspools which require
<br />attention, consumers exercise some care in the use of water,
<br />but when the surplus gives them no trouble, it is allowed to
<br />run freely. Our sister town of Arlington, after much de-
<br />liberation in the matter, have finally joined the Metropolitan
<br />Water Supply system, and it may be the best solution of
<br />the matter for us to do the same.
<br />Before we can learn the cost of such an arrangement, it
<br />will be necessary for us to make an application by vote of
<br />the town for admission into the Metropolitan Water Supply
<br />system, then the commissioners will investigate the case and
<br />give us the cost, and whether anything will be allowed
<br />for any part of our system which may be used by them.
<br />In case the town deem the cost excessive they are not
<br />obliged to enter.
<br />We therefore advise that the town apply for conditions
<br />and cost of entering the Metropolitan Water Supply system.
<br />EXTENSION OF MAINS, ETC.
<br />Extension of water mains on Hancock St., Fern St.,
<br />Clark St., Massachusetts Ave. near Arlington, and Massa-
<br />chusetts Ave. on Concord Hill, have been made, and the cost
<br />will be found in the list herewith presented.
