<br />inmates. The stock of tools, wagons, carts, harnesses,
<br />horses, cows, etc., show good care and careful attention.
<br />Massachusetts has the reputation of caring well for her poor
<br />and unfortunate, and Lexington, we believe, heads the list
<br />of towns and cities for humane treatment in the comforta-
<br />ble quarters furnished the poor.
<br />Lexington citizens have voted to give the town farm many
<br />of the luxuries of palatial homes, such as town water, steam
<br />heat, an excellent bath room with hot and cold water, and
<br />other modern conveniences that would be a credit to our
<br />best homes. And while we hope none will be so unfortu-
<br />nate as to be obliged to take up their home at the town farm,
<br />any citizen will be welcomed by the matron for a visit to
<br />this institution.
<br />The outside poor have increased the past two years.
