<br />Work was commenced as early as practicable and pushed
<br />rapidly the entire season, but owing to the frequent heavy
<br />rain storms work was continually delayed, and the result of
<br />these cloud bursts was the frequent washing and gullying of
<br />our hill roads and gutters, which plainly demonstrates this
<br />fact, that concrete or paved gutters are not only a necessity
<br />but a matter of economy and safety to the town.
<br />The following are the principal streets which were re-
<br />paired :
<br />Concord Turnpike,

<br />Lincoln Street,
<br />Massachusetts Avenue,
<br />Grove Street,
<br />Adams Street,
<br />East Street,
<br />Hancock Street,
<br />Bloomfield Street,
<br />Eustis Street,
<br />Highland Avenue,
<br />Oakland Avenue,
<br />Stetson Avenue,
<br />Chandler Avenue.
<br />In compliance with a vote of the town, we commenced
<br />work on Lowell Street, Or; . 10, and being convinced that a
<br />macadam road was the most economical and practical meth-
<br />od for years to come, we macadamized what we believed to
