D., 1875, the town treasurer hereby acknowl- <br />-edges the receipt of seventy-five ($75.00) dollars from <br />Clinton Viles of Boston, the interest of which is to be ex- <br />pended in accordance with said vote and Chapter 225 of the <br />Acts of 1870, upon lot standing in the name of Joel Viles, <br />No. 71 old number and 309 new number, in the new part <br />of town cemetery near the High school house in said Lex- <br />ington, in dressing and care of said lot, monuments, walks, <br />and the avenues adjacent thereto. <br />No money to be expended on said lot until the year 1900 <br />or after. <br />GEORGE D. FOSTER, Constable of Lexington, GREETING: <br />In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are <br />Hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the town <br />of Lexington, qualified by law to vote in town affairs, to as- <br />semble at the Town Hall, on Friday, the twentieth day of May, <br />A. LD., 1898, at 7.30 o'clock P. M., to act on the following <br />.articles, viz.:— <br />ART. 1. To choose a moderator to preside at said meeting. <br />44 <br />Voted, To choose a moderator by ballot, and that the <br />polls remain open three minutes. <br />On ballot with the use of the check list, George W. <br />Sampson had 11 votes, Robert P. Clapp two votes, and Geo. <br />W. Sampson was declared chosen as moderator. <br />Mr. Sampson declined to serve and the meeting excused <br />him. A new ballot was ordered, which resulted in Mr. <br />George F. Mead receiving 16 votes and Harry W. Davis 5 <br />votes, and George F. Mead was declared chosen as moderator - <br />and was sworn by the clerk. <br />ART. 2. To hear the report of any committee or board of. <br />officers of the town that may be ready to report, and act there- <br />on. <br />Mr. Herbert S. Teele for the committee to investigate a <br />system of heating and ventilating for the High and Adams <br />school buildings made the following report <br />The committee appointed by the chairman at the March <br />meeting to investigate a system of heating and ventilating <br />for the High and Adams school buildings and improving the <br />lighting of the above named buildings, would make the fol- <br />lowing recommendation : — <br />That the town of Lexington at this meeting appropriate <br />the sum of twenty-eight hundred and seventy-five ($2,875.00) <br />dollars for the purpose of making the necessary changes in <br />the two buildings named, the money appropriated to be ex- <br />pended under the direction of the committee. <br />Signed, <br />HERBERT S.
