<br />After announcing the result of the balloting as
<br />recorded, and swearing such of the newly elected
<br />officers as were present, sealing the ballots and
<br />check -list used, the moderator declared the meeting
<br />dissolved.

<br />WARRANT FOR A TOWN MEETING.
<br />SATURDAY, Ang. 10, 1889, 7.30 o'clock P. M.
<br />ARTICLE I. To choose a moderator.
<br />ART. 2. To hear the report of the committee,
<br />appointed 3/larch 4, 1889, to consider the subject of a
<br />new schoolhouse for the Hancock School, and act
<br />thereon.
<br />ART. 3. To hear the report of the Selectmen on
<br />the extension of Merriam Street, and act thereon.
<br />ART. 4. To hear the report of any other commit-
<br />tee that may be ready to report, and act thereon.
<br />ART. ;i. To see if the town will authorize the
<br />Selectmen to move the buildings of Geo. 0. Smith,

<br />and to adapt his estate to the relocating of Main
<br />Street against his estate, or to effect a settlement
<br />with him for his damages, or otherwise acct thereon.
<br />Action was taken on the articles of the foregoing
<br />warrant, as follows: —
<br />ARTICLE 1. Voted, To choose a moderator by
<br />nomination, and Robert P. Clapp was nominated and
<br />chosen, and sworn by the clerk.
<br />ART. 2. The committee on new schoolhouse for
<br />the Hancock School, submitted a report (see
<br />Report of Committees, page 284), and an motion of
<br />Charles M. Parker, it was
<br />Voted, That the report of the committee be ac-
<br />cepted.
<br />The moderator called Geo. W. Sampson to the
<br />chair and took the floor, and offered the following
<br />motions: --
<br />First. That the town proceed at once to build
<br />upon a suitable site, selected by the committee hav-
<br />ing the matter in charge, but distant not more than
<br />one fourth of a mile in a straight line from the Town
<br />Hall, a new schoolhouse, to be used instead of that
<br />now occupied by the Hancock School, and having
<br />such arrangements and accommodations suited to the
<br />needs of that and other schools as said committee,
<br />in consultation with the School Committee, shall
<br />approve; provided, however, that the total cost to the
<br />town of the new building, when completed and fitted
<br />with plumbing and heating apparatus, and all other
<br />furnishings, ready for occupancy, together with the
<br />land purchased for the new or enlarged site, shall not
<br />exceed the sum of $30,000.
