• 21 <br />Voted, That the report of the committee be ac- <br />cepted and its recommendations adopted. <br />.A.HT. 5. Mr. Geo. O. Smith presented his case to <br />the meeting, claiming that the award of the Commis- <br />sioners was not satisfactory to him. The matter was <br />discussed, and the ground was taken that Mr. Smith <br />must look to the County Commissioners or an appeal <br />I o the courts for additional compensation; and it <br />was <br />-Voted, That the matter be indefinitely postponed. <br />Meeting declared dissolved. <br />A true record. <br />LEONARD A. SAVILLE, <br />Town Clerk. <br />22 <br />REPORT OF SELECTMEN, SURVEYORS OF <br />HIGHWAYS, OVERSEERS OF POOR, <br />AND BOARD OF HEALTH. <br />Another financial year of the town having closed, <br />it devolves upon the officers having charge of the <br />various departments of town affairs to submit a <br />report of their doings, for the information of the tax- <br />payers and others interested. While the year just <br />closed has been in no way remarkable for any special <br />events in town matters, it seems to have been a <br />year in which a fair amount of general improvements <br />has been made, and at its close we believe all de- <br />partments of town affairs to be in a sound, healthy, <br />and prosperous condition, and we see no reason why <br />they should not continue so. <br />The reports of the Town Treasurer and Tax <br />Collector will show a considerable balance beyond <br />the amount necessary to pay all town expenses until <br />the annual meeting in March, a large part of which <br />can, if desired, be applied to the expenses of the en- <br />suing year. <br />The town buildings are generally in good condi- <br />tion, and no special outlay will be required for the <br />coming year, unless it should be decided to paint the <br />outside wood -work of the Town Hall, which ought <br />to be done for the preservation of the building. <br />It was necessary the past summer, by order of the <br />
