Lexington Council for the Arts <br />Meeting AGENDA <br />April 24, 2017 <br />Pre -Meeting Tasks <br />Review of handouts & minutes <br />Attendance: <br />Present: Seetha Ramnath (Chair), Mark Ferri, Lynne Klemmer, Amy Crandall Kaser (Treasurer), Jean Hart, Laurel Smith <br />Absent: Faith Lin, Jessie Steigerwald, Leslie Masson, Rebecca McGowan <br />Guests: Laura Lapointe <br />Recording Secretary: Mark Ferri <br />Meeting start time: 7:15 pm <br />1. WELCOME - Chairperson <br />a. Introduction <br />2. REPORTS <br />a. Secretary's Report <br />i. Approval of March minutes; Lynne motioned to approve, Mark second <br />b. Treasurer's Report <br />i. Update on reimbursements, current account balance. State $7223($1500 yet to be claimed from last year's <br />cycle) / Local $3236 - Please update based on Amy's input. <br />ii. Granite Forest project reimbursement process update- Approved by Laurie (accounting) via memo issued by <br />Seetha. David Williams will provide further details on project for Council to share around town <br />iii. Update on grant money not yet claimed from 2015-16 : $250 Lexington Historical Society, $500 Munroe <br />Saturday Nights, $200 Wax Wings Aedipus Cycle, $100 PityTheater Company, <br />iv. VOG - $500 grant will be received from First Parish/David Green to be award by Council to a local <br />"breakthrough" artist <br />V. Laurel will check with Cristina Burwell to see if there are reimbursements needed for parade sign <br />c. Grants Report <br />i. Received new reimbursements to be signed and processed <br />ii. Attendance/sign up for Grant winners performances by Council members <br />iii. Kathleen Rowe, Watershed project date moved to May 4th (7pm) at Cary Library <br />iv. Need to regroup on minimum allocation for grants next year's cycle. This year, 2 projects are a no go post <br />grant allocation due to lack of additional funding - Walden Shakespeare and Solar Winds (Lynne suggests <br />next grant cycle we make the minimum higher to reduce unclaimed funds) <br />d. Communications Report <br />i. Website: www.lexartscouncil.ora - any additions/corrections? Need listing of 2016-17 approved events to <br />post. Faith will work on post. <br />ii. Lexington Minuteman article sent, also to Town Calendar contact - will resend based on presentation <br />iii. Reminder - Grant reception plans - confirmed by Seetha after speaking with Elaine Ashton (President, East <br />Lex Association President) for May 21 st at 1 pm (Stone Building, formerly East Lex Library). <br />iv. All members welcome to write reviews on art events and potentially share on personal social media <br />accounts <br />3. NEW BUSINESS <br />a. New Initiatives <br />i. Invited Guest - Laura Lapointe - "Hug for Lexington" initiative to help LHS students cope with stress and <br />disappointment based on recent news (ref: NYT article) ; long discussion about potential solutions through <br />art <br />ii. Parade Highlights - Lynne, Laurel, Mark <br />iii. Arts Advocacy Day/Mass Creative - attended by Seetha, Lynne, Cristina, Laurel, Mark on March 28th in <br />Boston. <br />1 of 2 <br />
