TOWN OF LEXINGTON <br />Permanent Building Committee <br />For the <br />Public Safety Designer Interviews, Contract 17 -24 <br />Location: 201 Bedford Street, Meeting Room 221 <br />Date: October 31, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. <br />Selection Committee Present: Dick Perry (PBC), Joe Sirkovich (PBC), Mark Corr (Police Chief), John <br />Wilson (Fire Chief), Mark Barrett (DPF Project Manager), and Patrick Goddard (DPF Director) <br />Minutes: Patrick Goddard, Director of Public Facilities <br />At 3:08 PM, Douglas Roberts, principal -in- charge of JCJ Architects, introduced the team and then began the <br />presentation for JCJ Architects and Caolo and Bienek. The presentation provided an overview of the team <br />capabilities to provide the services required for the project and the schedule to complete the work. The <br />presentation also included comparable projects in other communities that included aspects similar to <br />Lexington requirements. <br />After the presentation, the Selection Committee asked questions concerning the temporary structure, design <br />vision, Massachusetts construction bidding regulations, traffic analysis, design for sustainability, and security <br />features of public buildings. <br />At approximately 4:00 PM, Jeffrey McElravy, principal of Tecton Architects, introduced the team and then <br />began the presentation for Tecton Architects and Pacheco Ross. The presentation provided an overview of <br />the team capabilities to provide the services required for the project, with Tecton Architects taking the lead for <br />the Police Station and Pacheco Ross taking the lead for the Fire Station, and the schedule to complete the <br />work. The presentation also included comparable projects in other communities that included aspects similar <br />to Lexington requirements. <br />After the presentation, the Selection Committee again asked questions concerning the temporary structure, <br />design vision, Massachusetts construction bidding regulations, traffic analysis, design for sustainability, and <br />security features of public buildings. <br />At approximately 5:00 PM, Jeff Shaw, principal of Donham & Sweeney Architects, introduced the team and <br />then began the presentation. The presentation provided an overview of the team capabilities to provide the <br />services required for the project, and the schedule to complete the work. The presentation also included <br />comparable projects in other communities that included aspects similar to Lexington requirements. <br />After the presentation, the Selection Committee again asked questions concerning the temporary structure, <br />design vision, Massachusetts construction bidding regulations, traffic analysis, design for sustainability, and <br />security features of public buildings. <br />At the conclusion of the interviews, the Selection Committee began deliberations on the ranking of the three <br />firms for contract negotiations. The committee agreed that all three firms were well qualified to perform the <br />work. At the conclusion of deliberations, the committee overwhelmingly ranked the team of Tecton Architects <br />and Pacheco and Ross number one for contract negotiations.
