Minutes of the Meeting Held on Thursday,October 12th,2023
A Meeting of the Lexington Youth Commission was held on Thursday,October 12th,2023.The
meeting began at 7:00pm in the LHS Library Media Center

September Minutes:Sofia Saleeby read September meeting minutes,which were approved by
the Committee.
Fall Island Clean Up:Sarah Kochi talked about the good work we did during the island clean up.
The planting of the flowers and pumpkins,along with the weeding made the island look nice and
contributed to the town.
Halloween Balloon Hanging -This event takes place the day of Halloween which is Tuesday,
October 31,2023 from 11:50 -1:15 (Missing H Block and get back right before I-block).We
hang balloons at the stores that hand out candy to the trick or treaters.At the end of the event,
there will be pizza and drinks for everyone who attended.We will meet in the Quad at 11:50,if
you have signed up to attend and cannot make it please call Duncan or Deb directly so we are
not waiting for you.
Members who have signed up are :Adeline F,Gabriella C,Margot B,Jake G,Meera K,Sophie
R,Keya D,Sarah B,Alice M,Taseem G,Duncan M,Charlie S,Owen R,and Sofia S.For those
members who were not at the meeting,please let Sofia and Duncan know ASAP if you
will be attending,the more members we have the better!
Lexington Food Pantry -We are doing our annual food drive in preparation of the upcoming
holidays.Each member received 10 bags,please give them out to neighbors,friends,family
members to be filled with nonperishable food items.We will be meeting at C&W Bus Yard,240
Bedford Street on Saturday,November 11 at 12:00 Noon.If you are not able to attend,please
make sure your bags are delivered to C&W prior to Saturday November 11th.This service
project will run from 12:00 -2:00 (the latest).At C&W we will be sort,check dates,and bag the
donations.Once we have completed that we will load the van,and deliver and carry them into
the Lexington Food Pantry.For the people who did not attend the meeting,stop by Deb’s
Office Room 202 to pick up your bags next to the Black Box by Wednesday,October
18th
Senior Luncheons at the Community Center -There are two events offered:Thursday,
November 16 (Day 4)from 11:45-1:00 pm and then Thursday,December 14 (Day 4)from
11:45-1:00 pm.We will service the seniors their lunch and dessert,along with joining them for
lunch.We will have 15 members sign up for each event.A bus will pick us up in front of LHS,
and return us there once we are done.We will do the sign-up at our next meeting,November
9th,check your calendars.
Thanksgiving Giving Turkey Dinner Deliveries -working with the Lions Club,we will be
delivering full turkey dinners on Wednesday,November 22nd,from 2:00 -4:00.We wil be
discussing this more at our next meeting.
Depot Square Tree Lighting -Black Friday,November 24th 5:30 -7:00 pm.Working in
conjunction with the town merchants bringing joy and happiness to Depot Square.We have
costumes,elf bands,etc and we hand out bells and candy canes.
Toys for Tots Stuffing a Cruiser -working in conjunction with the Lexington Police Department.
This event is Saturday December 2nd 12:00-4:00 in front of CVS.We will have more
information at the November meeting,along with posters to put up around town.
Tom's Time -Sadly,Tom could not come to our meeting.However,we took a show of hands for
people who can volunteer for the Haunted House on October 27,2023.You can be tour guides
or actors.Anyone who is interested see Deb in Room 202 for paperwork.
Shannon closes the meeting by telling everyone that her and Kristina will hopefully have T-shirts
and sweatshirts for everyone by the next meeting.
Our next meeting is Thursday,November 9 at 7:00 pm at the LHS Library Media Center.
