Themeetingwascalledtoorderat7:45p.m.andadjournedat8:50p.m. Themeetingwasdevotedto(1)discussingwhattodoaboutcontactingpeoplewhohavenotcompletedthesurvey;(2) reviewingtheresultsofthesurvey,summarizedbythestudentsatFraminghamStateUniversity;(3)planningfor conversationswithleadersinourtargetcommunitieswhoagreedtospeakwithus. Fromthesediscussions,weformulatedthefollowingdecisionsandactionsitems: Decisions ExceptforacoupleofcaseswhereweareanxioustoreachleadersofAsiancommunityorganizations,wewill stoptheremindersbecause20leadershavealreadyagreedtospeakwithus. Wewillnowturnoureffortstoplanningtheconversationswiththeleadersinthetargetcommunities.These conversationswillconsistofconferencecallsthatwillincludeatleasttwomembersoftheSAC,oneormore Lexingtonleaders(e.g.BillHurleyandMaryCzajkowskiwhentheintervieweeisasuperintendentofheadofa schoolboard)andoneormoreleadersofourAsiancommunityorganizations.Theconferencecallswillstartin midMayandarelikelytocontinuetomidJune. Actionitems Beforethenextmeeting(May10),everyͻƚǞƓĻƩͼofacommunity(youknowwhoyouare)willprepareasetof talkingpointsfortheleadersofthatcommunitywhohaveagreedtoafollowondialogueusingatemplateand exampletobepreparedbyDan(nextitem). Dan willcreateatemplatefortheaboveconversationsanddistributeitalongwithanexample byMonday,April11. Thetemplatewillincludethefollowingelements: Questionsregardingtheresponsesoftheleaderbeinginterviewed Questionsregardingothertopicsrelatedtoeventsofinterestthathaveoccurredinthecommunity.For example,forWestWindsorΑPlainsboroschoolsthismightincludequestionsregardingstepstakentodealwith theissueofstudentstressthatwasreportedintheNewYorkTimes. Questionsregardingkeyproblems(relatedtotheinclusionofresidentsofAsianancestry)facedbythe interviewee;howtheissuewasaddressed;andhowsuccessfulwasthecountermeasure. ForleadersofAsianancestry,wewillalsoaskthemtotellushowtheyfirstgotinvolvedandwhatLexingtoncan learnfromtheirexperience.
