Greenways Corridor Committee
April 25, 2016
Training Room, Hadley DPW Building
Lexington, Massachusetts
Members Present: Alex Dohan, Peggy Enders, Eileen Entin, Don Grant, Bob Hausslein, Susan
Kenyon, Keith Ohmart, Mike Tabaczynski
Other Attendees: none
Announcement
: There will be a “photo op” with the Board of Selectmen on May 9 at 5:45, to
signify the GCC’s receipt of the Bechtel Design Award for ACROSS Lexington.
Votes
: Minutes 3/28/2016: Approved
Belmont Country Club letter - notice to Conservation Commission of GCC support for
purchase of property: Approved
Reports/Updates
:
• Can we change the upcoming meeting dates to May 16 and June 20? Probably.
• Various repairs made to route signage.
• Keith has scheduled a meeting with Carol Kowalski to discuss consideration of private
ways/unaccepted streets, and parcels such as the Webb/Laconia St parcel. This conversa-
tion will hopefully begin development of a process for dealing with non-standard situations
such as these.
• Brochures are in! They look great. There was some confusion about who was assigned
which brochure holders to refill. In order to eliminate the confusion, Keith asked Susan to
send out a list of routes to the committee members who had volunteered to fill the brochure
holders.
• Munroe Cemetery re-routing for Route B is under consideration, but will probably require an
engineering survey. We would need to use the opening in the back fence, and access to the
Bike Path from there is very steep. There are also potential wetland and conservation issues
that would need to be considered.
• Belmont Country Club - Board of Selectmen will announce tonight what they have decided.
• Bike Walk Bus Week - help needed with the Commuter Breakfast. The Center Walk will be
on May 20 at 9:30am.
Ongoing Business
:
• No update from Richard Canale yet. Discussion about the lack of crosswalk over Rte
2A/Marrett Rd. Minuteman High School will be rebuilding/relocating in the near future, which
may affect the site. 2A is a state road, which means getting a crosswalk put in is not simple.
It would be nice to have ACROSS access close to the hotels and Cranberry Hill office park,
to attract users. Need to discuss with Minuteman High School and Cranberry Hill manage-
ment, but will hold off for now until we have more information from R. Canale and the Minute
Man National Historical Park.
• Route G - discussed Bob’s alternate, more wooded, route through Lower Vine Brook. Deci-
sion made to use Bob’s route. Some thought it might be nice to circumnavigate the pond, but
too muddy on east side - maybe after a boardwalk is constructed. Signage placement at
Lowell and East Streets needs to be confirmed.
