Commissioner Absent: Associate Commissioners Present: Dan Hisel. Associate Commissioner Absent: Staff Present: Siqing Pan, Department Assistant th Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy called the June 14, 2023 Historic Districts Commission meeting to order at 5:05pm. CONTINUE HEARING Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the continued hearing for 960 Massachusetts Avenue, exterior alterations (Additions) in the East Village Historic District Documents Updated Proposed plans: dated June 12, 2023 The applicant and architect explained the updated proposed addition plans at 960 Mass Ave. The Commission felt the proposed changes were appropriate. No public comments. Motion was granted and seconded to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior changes to 960 Massachusetts Avenue. Motion carried, all in favor. Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the continued hearing for 1575 Massachusetts Avenue, exterior changes (Solar Carports) in the Battle Green Historic District Documents None The applicants explained the proposed plans of solar carports and compared all proposed options of the project. The Commission agreed to continue this application to August meeting. Historic Districts Commission 1 / 2 Dawn McKenna, 9 Hancock St, expressed her opposition to this Solar Carports project. Tina McBride of 45 Turning Mill Rd, Cindy Arens of 7 Kitson Park Dr, Lin Jensen of 133 Reed St, Marcia Gens of 16 Dane Rd, and Ricki Pappo of 16 Blossomcrest Rd, stated they supported the Solar Carports project. Jonathan Himmel, 66 Hancock St, suggested to break it up otherwise it will be too big visually. Edward Adelman made a motion that the Historical Districts Commission approve the design th direction of option I, as presented on the June 14, 2023 HDC meeting, and that structural detail remains to be determined with one caveat that design details such as arches or other design details will be open to review, but the fundamental position, square footage, footprint, and location will be the design direction to go forward. Bob Adams seconded. Motion carried. All in favor. All in favor with Edward Adelman abstention. The Commission approve the mailbox installation at 822 Massachusetts Avenue administratively. The Commission made a motion to adjourn at 6:55 pm.
