LEXINGTON: CABLE TV AND COMMUNICATIONS ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br /> Lexington, Massachusetts <br /> MEETING OF THE COMMITEE, 29 JANUARY 1988 <br /> The chairman was unable to attend but appointed Theodore <br /> Mairson to be acting chairman . The meeting was called to order at <br /> 3: 22 PM. Present were Julian Bussgang, Stella Liu, Theodore <br /> Mairson, Leo McSweeney, William Spencer, Martha Stanton, and John <br /> Ward. <br /> McSweeney presented the following papers: <br /> cover letter from Richard J . White <br /> letter dated 1 /29/88, Richard W. Chandler to Richard White <br /> letter dated 12/21/87, Sheila Mahoney to Richard White <br /> letter undated, Richard J. White to Anthony F. Peduto <br /> memorandum dated 1/28/88, Richard J . White to Leo McSweeney <br /> These have been placed on file. <br /> Stanton commented that she is now pleased with prompt responses <br /> by Adams-Russell . <br /> McSweeney agreed to distribute copies of the 1980 and 1974 <br /> Selectmen' s CATV reports to members of the committee. <br /> The matter of the Selectmen' s charge to the committee was <br /> discussed. Bussgang said that emphasis should be placed on <br /> reviewing performance by Adams-Russell and advising the Selectmen. <br /> Mairson distributed a note dated 1/29/88 "RE: CHARGE TO CATV <br /> COMMITTEE" , a copy of which has been placed on file. Spencer <br /> suggested the following emphasis: <br /> hold a public hearing in the fall <br /> prepare a report to the Selectmen <br /> Publish the report in the Town' s annual report <br /> Mairson suggested that the scope of subject matter was technology, <br /> not just CATV and that this was the significance of COMMUNICATIONS <br /> in the committee' s title. McSweeney confirmed that this had been <br /> the Selectmen' s intention. ' ~ <br /> ` <br /> Complaint procedures were discussed. It was agreed that <br /> McSweeney should ask the Town Manager to mail a questionnaire to <br /> each one who submits a written or telephone complaint to Town Hall . <br /> Copies of the response will be forwarded to Adams-Russell . <br /> Preliminary discussion of public access and local origination <br /> was begun, but no conclusions were reached. Liu pointed out that <br /> there were no A- or B-channels available for library access. This <br /> will be taken up with Adams-Russell . <br /> . <br /> It was voted unanimously that the committee will meet on the <br /> fourth Friday of each month at 3: 30 PM. The next meeting will be on <br /> Friday, 26 February 1988 at 3: 30 PM. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 4: 58 PM. <br /> Respectfully submitted, � <br /> Theodore Mairson <br />
