HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-02-21-PLNCD-min Minutes Committee: Pierce-Lockwood Neighborhood Conservation District Meeting Lexington, MA Date: Tuesday, February 21, 2023, 7:00pm Place: Town Office Building, Parker Room, lower level, in-person Attendance: Committee members: Rich Goldhammer, Chair Chris Neurath, Neighborhood member Wendy Russman-Halperin, Neighborhood member Bob Creech – Planning Board member No other attendees. Minutes from previous meeting of March 10, 2022 discussed: - Discussed style of houses on Lockwood Rd and Byron Ave with regard to additions to sides of house and that several houses have side porches or additions but that they are all set back from the front line of the houses so as to visually maintain lines of main body of houses. - Approved previous meeting minutes. Discussed current membership of committee and possible new members. The small size of the NCD together with many homes with relatively new families means the pool of potentially interested people to become committee members is limited. Chris Neurath mentioned that the small size of the NCD can also be a selling point because it means there has not been a lot of time required with only one or two meetings a year. A Lexington group working to strengthen local tree laws and their enforcement asked the committee to sign a petition. Discussed whether trees were within scope of NCD. Our NCD guidelines may encompass trees to the extent they help define the character of the neighborhood. However, the committee decided the petition on Lexington tree laws were not sufficiently within the scope of the NCD and chose not to sign the petition. Discussion of whether there were any known likely homes in the NCD that might be planning alterations that could require NCD approval. We were not aware of anything likely in the near future and no applications have been received since previous meeting. Discussed scheduling next annual meeting and decided to wait until a month or so before the next meeting to choose a date, time, and place. Meeting adjourned 8:15 pm. Minutes recorded by Chris Neurath.
