TOWN WARRANT <br /> Town of Lexington <br /> Commonwealth of Massachusetts Middlesex, ss. <br /> To any of the Constables of the Town of Lexington Greetings: <br /> In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are to notify the inhabitants of the Town of <br /> Lexington qualified to vote in elections and in Town affairs to meet in their respective voting places in <br /> said Town. <br /> PRECINCT ONE, CARY MEMORIAL BUILDING; PRECINCT TWO, BOWMAN SCHOOL, <br /> PRECINCT THREE, JONAS CLARKE MIDDLE SCHOOL, PRECINCT FOUR, BRIDGE SCHOOL, <br /> PRECINCT FIVE, CARY MEMORIAL BUILDING; PRECINCT SIX, WILLIAM DIAMOND MIDDLE <br /> SCHOOL, PRECINCT SEVEN, ESTABROOK SCHOOL, PRECINCT EIGHT, FIRE HEADQUARTERS <br /> BUILDING; PRECINCT NINE,MARIA HASTINGS SCHOOL, <br /> MONDAY, the FIFTH DAY of JUNE,A.D.,2006 <br /> From 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., then and there to act on the following questions submitted to the voters at <br /> large: <br /> QUESTION 1 Shall the Town of Lexington be allowed to assess an additional $2,614,509 in real <br /> estate and personal property taxes for the purposes of meeting educational goals including preserving 36.15 <br /> teacher and staff positions and programs that include elementary Spanish and high school German; fee-free <br /> elementary music; integration of computers in the K-8 curriculum; moderating athletic fees; most high <br /> school science instruction at six periods per week; help sessions and other instructional duties in high school <br /> social studies, mathematics, and foreign language; preschool, secondary and K-12 health and physical <br /> education personnel, existing debate travel, moderating elementary school class sizes; and new teacher <br /> training for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2006? <br /> Yes <br /> No <br /> QUESTION 2: Shall the Town of Lexington be allowed to assess an additional $551,607 in real <br /> estate and personal property taxes for the purposes of meeting educational goals including restoring textbook <br /> and supply budgets; providing needed secondary school classes and moderating secondary school class <br /> sizes; funding additional debate travel, and providing for the operation of the high school language lab for <br /> the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2006? <br /> Yes <br /> No <br /> QUESTION 3 Shall the Town of Lexington be allowed to assess an additional $1,059,100 in real <br /> estate and personal property taxes for the purposes of funding necessary and appropriate maintenance of <br /> municipal and school buildings and properties including a school preventive maintenance program for four <br /> new and renovated buildings; two additional staff to supervise building maintenance and monitor energy <br /> consumption in ten school buildings; three custodians to reduce custodial overtime expenditures; a <br /> municipal reserve fund for ongoing building envelope renewal and repair; four fuel-efficient replacement <br /> vehicles; restoration of the highway superintendent position to ensure efficient operations; and equipment to <br /> maintain the automatic transmissions of the DPW fleet for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2006? <br /> Yes <br /> No <br /> QUESTION 4 Shall the Town of Lexington be allowed to assess an additional $799,335 in real <br /> estate and personal property taxes for the purposes of restoring and preserving municipal services including <br /> a Middle School Police Resource Officer; a Human Resources Director; an Information Technology <br /> Director; a records management/archives program; training and professional development of staff; updating <br /> of fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS)equipment; purchase of a police cruiser; a Police <br /> administrative clerk; Sunday hours of operation at Cary Library; operation of the East Lexington Library; an <br /> Economic Development Officer; 10 hours/week of Lexpress transportation operation; an Assistant <br /> Conservation Officer; continued scheduled collection of cathode ray tube (CRT) and related electronic <br /> refuse (e-waste); 12 weekly curbside yard waste collections; and the tree planting program for the fiscal year <br /> beginning July 1, 2006? <br /> Yes <br /> No <br />
