To any of the Constables of the Town of Lexington, in said County, Greetings: In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are directed to notify the inhabitants of the Town of Lexington qualified to vote in elections and in Town affairs to meet in Cary Memorial Hall, in said Town on Monday, the second day of December, 1985, at 8:00 p.m. , at which time and place the follow- ing articles are to be acted upon and determined exclusively by the Town Meet- ing Members in accordance with Chapter 215 of the Acts of 1929, as amended, and subject to the referendum provided for by Section eight of said Chapter, as amended. ARTICLE 1 REPORTS OF TOWN BOARDS, OFFICERS, COMMITTEES To receive the reports of any Board or Town Officer or of any Committee of the Town. ARTICLE 2 EDUCATION STATUTE To see if the Town will vote to accept the provisions of Section 13 of Chapter 188 of the Acts of 1985 relating to a professional development grant program for supplementing teacher compensations; or act in any other manner in relations thereto. (Inserted at the request of the School Committees of the Town and the Minuteman District) ARTICLE 3 MOTEL/HOTEL TAX STATUTE To see if the Town will vote to accept Section 3A of Chapter 64G of the General Laws relating to the imposition of a local excise tax upon the transfer of occupancy of any room or rooms in a hotel, lodging house, or motel located in the Town; or act in any other manner in relation thereto. (Inserted by the Board of Selectmen) ARTICLE 4 SUPPLEMENTARY APPROPRIATIONS To see if the Town will make supplementary appropriations, to be used in conjunction with money appropriated under Article 26 of the warrant for the 1985 Annual Town Meeting, to be used during the current fiscal year and deter- mine whether the money shall be provided by transfer from available funds; or act in any other manner in relation thereto. (Inserted by the Board of Selectmen) r--- �n ccn zc o �. cr is - r CO ARTICLE 5 HANDICAPPED RAMP CARY MEMORIAL BUILDING To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money, in addition to the money appropriated under Article 56 of the warrant for the 1984 Annual Town Meeting, for making renovations for handicapped access to Cary Memorial Hall and determine whether the money shall be provided by transfer from available funds; or act in any other manner in relation thereto . (Inserted by the Board of Selectmen) ARTICLE 6 ARCHITECTURAL STUDY, SCHOOL BUILDINGS To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of.money for an architectural/ engineering survey of school buildings and determine whether the money shall be provided by transfer from available funds; or act in any other manner in relation thereto. (Inserted at the request of the School Committee) ARTICLE 7 PINE MEADOWS GOLF COURSE To see if the Town will vote to amend the motion under Article 51 of the warrant for the 1985 Annual Town Meeting to increase the amount appropriated to purchase the land now or formerly of Pine Meadow Country Club, Inc; deter- mine whether the money shall be provided by transfer from available funds, or by borrowing, or by any combination of these methods; or act in any other manner in relation thereto. (Inserted by the Board of Selectmen) ARTICLE 8 MORROW CROSSING To see if the Town will vote to amend the motion under Article 64 of the warrant for the 1984 Annual Town Meeting to permit the purchase of two housing units on Bedford Street and otherwise approve an amendment to the agreement relating to the Morrow Crossing development, so called; or act in any other manner in relation thereto. (Inserted by the Board of Selectmen) ARTICLE 9 FOOTWAY, DUNBACK MEADOW CONSERVATION LAND To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to petition the General Court for an act to permit the construction of a footway, as permitted by Section 33 of Chapter 82 of the General Laws, across a section of the Dunback Meadow conservation land, for the purpose of providing access to recrea- tion and school land, in addition to providing access to the Dunback Meadow conservation land; or act in any other manner in relation thereto . (Inserted at the request of the Planning Board) ARTICLE 10 EMERALD STREET LOTS To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to acquire by eminent domain for housing and municipal purposes the land on Emerald Street shown as lots 196, 197 and 198 on Assessors' Property Map 58, and appropriate money therefor, determine whether the money shall be provided by transfer from available funds; or act in any other manner in relation thereto . (Inserted by the Board of Selectmen) ARTICLE 11 DISSOLVING COMMITTEES To see if the Town will vote to dissolve the Energy Committee established under Article 49 of the warrant for the 1979 Annual Town Meeting; or act in any other manner in relation thereto . (Inserted by the Board of Selectmen) ARTICLE 12 FRANKLIN SCHOOL To see if the Town will vote to amend the motion under Article 23 of the warrant for the 1985 Annual Town Meeting, which authorized conveyance of the Franklin School property from the Board of Selectmen to Greater Boston Community Development, Inc. by the insertion of the following language at the end of the motion: 1) Greater Boston Community Development, Inc. will he responsible for repayment of any and all debt incurred through its acceptance of State Housing Assistance for Rental Production (SHARP) funds. 2) Greater Boston Community Development, Inc. will be responsible for any and all debt incurred through its syndication of the Franklin School development; or take any other action relative thereto. Whyte and ninety-nine or more registered voters) And you are directed to serve this warrant fourteen days at least before the time of said meeting as provided in the By-Laws of the Town.
