ARTICLE 48 ELDERLY/HANDICAPPED <br /> TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM <br /> To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money to fund a local transporta- <br /> tion system for handicapped and elderly persons; determine whether the money <br /> shall be provided by the tax levy, or by transfer from available funds, or by <br /> any combination of these methods; or act in any other manner in relation <br /> thereto. <br /> (Inserted by the Board of Selectmen) <br /> FUNDS REQUESTED: $50,000 <br /> DESCRIPTION: This article provides for a transportation program for the <br /> elderly and handicapped as an alternate to a full Lexpress service. <br /> ARTICLE 49 CMARC <br /> To see if the Town will appropriate $5,000 to be expended by the Board of Health <br /> under G.L. c.40 sec. 40C for services to be provided to the Town by the Central <br /> Middlesex Association for Retarded Citizens, Inc. (CMARC) , pursuant to G.L. <br /> c.19, and determine whether the money shall be provided by the tax levy, by <br /> transfer from available funds, or by any combination of these methods; or act in <br /> any other manner in relation thereto. <br /> (Inserted by Irwin Alterson and nine or more registered voters) <br /> FUNDS REQUESTED: $5,000 <br /> DESCRIPTION: This article requests funds to be used to offset the cost of <br /> providing services (sheltered workshop, day activity program) for the <br /> handicapped and retarded population from Lexington. These are people <br /> identified as citizens from the community as opposed to those coming from <br /> state institutions. <br /> ARTICLE 50 HANSCOM FIELD SUBREGION <br /> TRAFFIC FLOW STUDY <br /> To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money for the Town's share of a <br /> preliminary study for improving the traffic flow in the Hanscom Field subregion; <br /> determine whether the money shall be provided by the tax levy, or by transfer <br /> from available funds, or by any combination of these methods; or act in any <br /> other manner in relation thereto. <br /> (Inserted at the request of the Hanscom Area Traffic Study (HATS) Committee) <br /> FUNDS REQUESTED: $2,500 <br /> DESCRIPTION: The HATS Committee seeks an engineering analysis of <br /> alternatives to improve traffic flow in the Hanscom subregion. While it <br /> appears that the State and Massport funds will cover the cost, this article <br /> would provide for a Lexington contribution if required. <br />
