TOWN WARRANT <br /> <br /> Commonwealth of Massachusetts Middlesex, ss. <br /> To Either of the Constables of the Town of Lexington, in <br /> said County, Greeting: <br /> In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are directed to notify the inhabitants <br /> of the Town of Lexington, qualified to vote in elections and in Town affairs, to meet in Cary Memorial <br /> Hall, in said Lexington, on Monday, the twenty-sixth day of May, 1952, at 8:00 P.M. then and there <br /> to act on the following articles: <br /> ARTICLE 1. To receive the reports of any Board of Town Officers or of any Committee of the <br /> Town and to appoint other Committees. <br /> ARTICLE 2. To see if in connection with the proposal of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, <br /> through its Department of Public Works, to do certain work, including dredging and stream clearance, <br /> in and about Kiln Brook in Lexington, the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen in the name and on <br /> behalf of the Town to agree to indemnify and save harmless the Commonwealth and its representatives <br /> and agents against all claims and demands for damages that may be sustained by any person whose land <br /> or any rights or interest therein is taken for or is injured by said work, or act in any other manner in <br /> relation thereto. <br /> ARTICLE 3. To see if in connection with the construction by the Metropolitan District Commis- <br /> sion of a main sewer in Lexington from a point near the Arlington-Lexington line to a point approxi- <br /> mately 1,000 feet generally easterly of Hayes Lane, so-called, in Lexington, the Town will vote to au- <br /> thorize the Selectmen to sell and transfer to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts the main sewer ex- <br /> tending from the Arlington-Lexington line to a point approximately 1172 feet in Lexington upon such <br /> terms and for.such consideration as the Selectmen may determine, or act in any other manner in rela- <br /> tion thereto. <br /> ARTICLE 4. To see if in anticipation of the consideration to be received from the Commonwealth <br /> of Massachusetts for the sale and transfer of the main sewer referred to in Article 3 of this warrant, <br /> the Town will vote to provide for payment of part of the $140,000 voted under Article 11 of the 1952 <br /> Annual Town Meeting for sewer main installation and land acquisition by an additional transfer from <br /> the Excess and Deficiency account of an amount not in excess of the aforesaid consideration to be re- <br /> ceived from the Commonwealth and to reduce the borrowing authorization voted under said Article 11 <br /> by the same amount, the consideration from the Commonwealth to be restored upon its receipt to said <br /> Account, or act in any other manner in relation thereto. <br /> ARTICLE 5. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate an additional sum of money for Health <br /> Department — Expenses, for the balance of the year 1952, and provide for payment thereof by transfer <br /> from available funds, including unexpended balances in current appropriations, or act in any other man- <br /> ner in relation thereto. <br /> And you are directed to serve this warrant seven days at least before the time of said meeting as <br /> provided in the By-laws of the Town. <br /> Hereof fail not, and make due return on this warrant, with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk, <br /> on or before the time of said meeting. <br /> Given under our hands at Lexington this twelfth day of May, A.
