ARTICLE 36 TOWN GOALS RELATING TO HANSCOM DEVELOPMENT <br /> To see if the town will vote to adopt a set of goals as filed with the Town Clerk in order to guide <br /> the actions of the Board of Selectmen, the Planning Board, and other town officials in dealing <br /> with issues relating to the future use and development of Hanscom Field by the Massachusetts <br /> Port Authority; or act in any other manner in relation thereto. <br /> (Inserted at the request of Florence Koplow and nine or more registered voters) <br /> DESCRIPTION: Lexington and other HATS (Hanscom Area Towns) communities of <br /> Bedford, Concord and Lincoln are facing complex issues and fast-moving developments at <br /> Hanscom Civilian Airport. The citizens submitting this article believe that a set of goals <br /> established by the Town will be of value to town officials, state legislators and residents in <br /> planning and decision-making regarding Hanscom. <br /> ARTICLE 37 PLANNING AND LEGAL SERVICES - HANSCOM <br /> To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money for planning consultants and legal counsel to <br /> protect the Town's interest in connection with the future use and development of Hanscom Field; <br /> or act in any other manner in relation thereto. <br /> (Inserted at the request of Florence Koplow and nine or more registered voters) <br /> FUNDS REQUESTED: Unknown at press time. <br /> DESCRIPTION: Lexington and other HATS towns (Bedford, Concord and Lincoln) are <br /> currently engaged in both the Hanscom GEIR(Generic Environmental Impact Report) process <br /> being conducted by Massport and the Hanscom area Four Town Planning Study. This request <br /> is being made to make it possible for the Town to appropriate funds, if needed, to be used <br /> either by the Lexington Selectmen or by the Hanscom Area Towns Committee (HATS) for <br /> planners, consultants, legal counsel or any other expert consultation as needed. <br /> ARTICLE 38 HANSCOM AGREEMENTS APPROVAL BY TOWN MEETING <br /> To see if the Town will vote to recommend that the Board of Selectmen present for approval by <br /> Town Meeting, agreements concerning plans for aviation and non-aviation development or <br /> changes relating to L.G. Hanscom Field and surrounding land owned by the Massachusetts Port <br /> Authority; determine the process for such approvals; advise the Board of Selectmen and the <br /> Planning Board in this matter; or act in any other manner in relation thereto. <br /> (Inserted at the request of Andrew Friedlich and nine or more registered voters) <br /> DESCRIPTION: This article requests that a mechanism be established to involve Town <br /> Meeting with the review, discussion and approval of major issues the Board of Selectmen or <br /> HATS representatives are negotiating with Massport as they relate to Hanscom. <br /> 27 <br />
