441 <br /> August 17th, 1938 <br /> To the Town Clerk: <br /> I have notified the inhabitants of Lexington by posting <br /> printed copies of the foregoing Warrant in the Post Office, in <br /> the vestibule of the Town Office Building and six other public <br /> places in town, and by mailing a printed copy of the same to <br /> every registered voter in the Town eight days before the time <br /> of said meeting. - <br /> Attest: <br /> Patrick J. Maguire <br /> Constable of Lexington <br /> SPECIAL TOWN MEETING HELD AUGUST 25, 1938 <br /> The meeting was called to order at 8:14 P.M. by the Town <br /> Clerk, James J. Carroll, account the Moderator, Robert H. Holt, <br /> being absent. <br /> Town Clerk James J. Carroll stated it would be in order to <br /> elect a Moderator Pro-Tem for the meeting. <br /> It was voted to make nominations from the floor for Mod- <br /> erator Pro-Tem for the meeting. <br /> The nomination was made of Mr. Ferguson for Moderator Pro- <br /> Tem, which was not seconded, whereby the Town Clerk declared <br /> the nomination not in order. <br /> Selectman Archibald R. Giroux makes the nomination of <br /> Senator Joseph R. Cotton for Moderator Pro-Tem, which was second- <br /> ed. <br /> Motion made and seconded nominations be closed, and so <br /> voted - 8:15 P.M. <br /> Senator Joseph R. Cotton was unanimously elected as Moder- <br /> ator Pro-Tem for the meeting - 8:15 P.M. <br /> The Moderator Pro-Tem, Joseph R. Cotton, was sworn to the <br /> faithful performance of his duties by the Town Clerk, James J. <br /> Carroll. 8:16 P.M. <br /> The Town Clerk read the warrant for the meeting, until <br /> upon motion of Selectman Archibald R. Giroux, further reading <br /> of the warrant was waived. <br /> The Town Clerk read the Officer's return of the warrant. <br /> 8:17 P.M. <br /> Robert C. Merriam, Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, <br /> moved to take up Article 1, submitting the Appropriation Com- <br /> mittee's Report, moving that said report be accepted and placed <br /> on file, which was voted unanimously - 8:19 P.M. <br /> Robert C. Merriam, Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, <br /> read the Appropriation Committee's recommendations of the various <br /> articles for the meeting. <br /> 8:28 P.M. <br />
