• <br /> CENTER REVITALIZATION COMMITTEE <br /> Members: 9 <br /> Appointed by: Board of Selectmen <br /> Length of Term: 1 Year <br /> Openings Occur: September 30 <br /> Meetings Times: Usually once of twice a month <br /> The Center Revitalization Committee is charged with preparing a plan for <br /> the center which will include but not be limited to methods of achieving <br /> commercial diversity, increased social and cultural activity, improved <br /> traffic flow, and increased parking. Since its inception, the committee <br /> has been composed of Selectmen, Planning Board , and Chamber of Commerce <br /> representativen order to carry out its charge the Center Revitalization <br /> Committee has appointed a land use sub-committee composed of Planning <br /> Board members, neighbors, and professionals in the fields of landscape <br /> design and city planning. This sub-cominittee reviews development trends <br /> both internal and external affecting Lexington Center. The sub-committee <br /> is responsible for defining a "role" for the Center in serving the needs <br /> of the Town. The sub-committee is charged with evaluating the potential <br /> for expanding commercial activities in the Center, identifying land uses <br /> or activities which should be encouraged to locate or expand in the Center; <br /> the effects of expansion on existing commercial activities within the <br /> center and adjoining areas ` <br /> m propos standards for an appropriate <br /> intensity of development in the center The sub-committee is also ex- <br /> pected to consider the relationship between transportation elements <br /> (traffic, parking, pedestrian movement) and land use •development. The <br /> sub-committee reports back to the full Center Revitalization Committee <br /> which in turn reports to the Selectmen. <br /> Criteria for Membership - Members should: <br /> 9.•► 40/4004' 44404 <br /> Be people of competence, good will and sound, objective judgment; <br /> Be drawn from new and long-time residents alike; <br /> Be truly interested in the welfare of Lexington and all its residents; <br /> Be sensitive to the long-term as well as theimmediate impact of their <br /> decisions and recommendations; <br /> Be willing and able to devote the time and energy necessary to fulfill <br /> their responsibilities. <br />
