Tuesday,April 11, 2000 minutes of managing growth meeting:3/16 Page:2 <br /> Web Page on Lexington Home page <br /> Hard Copy of a questionnaire available at Cary Memorial <br /> Library <br /> Document at Town Meeting <br /> Document at Senior Center <br /> Document at Town Offices <br /> Hold a public meeting <br /> Marianne Lazarus will ask the Minuteman if we can write an article and have <br /> them publish it- perhaps treat it as a guest column. <br /> Markus Pinney will talk to Lexington offices about posting a document/ <br /> questionnaire on the Lexington Home page. <br /> Ione Garing will ask the library, town meeting, senior center, and town <br /> offices if we can leave an article at each of these locations. <br /> Marianne will ask the steering committee if we have the money to pay for <br /> this. <br /> Questions were brought up by Tom asking if a document is really the best <br /> way to communicate our groups efforts. <br /> John wonders how we should go about collecting the feedback we intend to <br /> get from the public. <br /> The 2 proposals for our outreach activity have been narrowed down to: <br /> a public meeting <br /> a document/ questionnaire <br /> Both options would address our goals as they pertain to managing growth for <br /> the year 2020, and request specific feedback (agreeing or disagreeing) from <br /> the community. <br /> When put to a vote, 4 people were in favor of a public meeting and 8 were <br /> in favor of a distribution of a document/ questionnaire. <br /> The managing growth committee will work towards writing, developing, and <br /> distributing a document/ questionnaire as our Outreach Activity <br /> VISION STATEMENT: <br /> Ed Vail felt that something should be added to the vision statement in <br /> reference to protecting our athletic facilities. <br /> Suzanne Caton discussed the possibility of adding a statement to maintain <br /> the obvious neighborhoods presently existing in Lexington. <br /> Ione Oaring suggest that we change the word "wild" to "natural" in the <br /> first paragraph. <br /> Limit and direct growth was added to the second paragraph. <br /> Tom Harden suggested that we add a statement about collaborating with <br /> neighboring communities in the region, not just isolating Lexington. <br /> the word "town" will be lowercase in the final draft of the vision. <br /> The following is our tentative definition of mansionization: <br /> "Mansionization is defined as a reconstruction of an existing <br /> house <br /> grossly out of proportion in context of the surrounding neighborhood and <br /> size of lot." <br /> We should add a statement about the need for zoning laws due to the loss <br /> of open space and mansionization. <br /> We need to revisit the idea of a coherent neighborhood during our next <br /> meeting. <br /> We should include an introduction at the beginning of the vision stating <br /> that we are writing it from the perspective of a person in the year 2020. <br /> Time, date, and location of next meeting scheduled: <br /> The next meeting will be on March 30, 2000 @ 7:00 pm in room 111 at the <br /> Dwn Hall. <br /> The meeting for 4/20 has been rescheduled to 4/18. <br /> The meetings on 4/6 and 5/4 will both be held in room 111 at town hall. <br /> mai Ibox:/Macintosh%20H D/System%20Folder/ <br /> Preferences/Netscape%20Users/ <br />
