• Co-facilitating and coordinating private school network meetings the Director of Student <br /> Health Services, Lexington Schools (seven private schools in Lexington participate two times <br /> per year). <br /> • Co-facilitating three parenting workshops with an elementary school counselor in Spring <br /> 2006 at The Avalon. <br /> • Implementing& Coordinating intergenerational programs in the community <br /> • Coordinating and co-facilitating a book groups for parents <br /> • Providing direct services to families with significant case management issues <br /> • Responding to 60+ calls a month related to issues, including: <br /> ➢ Financial assistance (town, community, state/federal)regarding medical <br /> bills/needs, after-school/summer programming, utilities, emergency housing <br /> ➢ Information,referral around clinical/mental health needs of youth related to <br /> mental illness, pervasive developmental disorder, substance use, and coordination <br /> of services post-hospitalization. <br /> ➢ Collaboration with school systems and town departments on youth at-risk related <br /> to risking behaviors (i.e. cutting), domestic violence, and abuse and neglect issues <br /> as well as Issues of basic needs around housing, food, fuel, and transportation. <br /> Unmet Needs Identified by the Youth Services Council <br /> • A coordinated community system of prevention and outreach services for youth and <br /> families. <br /> • Accessible services for all youth and families. <br /> Furthering discussion of and responses to concerns and needs as evidenced by Youth Risk <br /> Behavior Survey and reports from Schools, Police, Fire Departments and youth themselves. (See <br /> Attachments.) <br /> Proposed services and programs to meet immediate and future needs: <br /> • Prevention-based services (e.g. outreach worker,youth center, peer leadership, etc.) <br /> ➢ Accessible mental health service to children and adolescents <br /> ➢ Office hours in schools and community locations <br /> ➢ Collaborative preventive programs <br /> • Group therapy/psycho-education programs for youth and families <br /> • Restoration of the School Resource Officer position at middle school Level <br /> • Resource Guide for youth and families <br /> List of Attachments <br /> A.
