Welcome, 2. Approved March 10, 2022 Minutes Motion made by Mr. O’Shaughnessy and seconded by Mr. Connors 3. Logo Contest Update • Recap -- Logo chosen at last meeting all applications central figure of Minuteman and appealing on a number of fronts Also chose a 1st runner up and a 2nd runner up • Post meeting member found that the central feature (Patriot) of the logo is being used by a company called Patriot Woodworks • Since logo is not original, jury reconvened to choose another logo. Considered going to 1st runner up but that was not an ideal option to use as a logo – instead will continue to use it in other ways • 2nd runner up has submitted some design variations that included Captain Parker and color • Member comments and concerns included ambiguous; hard to read; not sure that Battle of Lexington is clearly conveyed; also missing some spark; others felt design was clean, Captain Parker and 1775 is familiar enough to imply the battle; suggestions to improved design included adding April 15 would be helpful; adding color(s) would be helpful, discussion on what these designs would look like printed on various media. Possible changes to logo included see if red, white and blue in the logo or maybe gold circle; could have more text or rearrangement, maybe April 19, 1775 instead of 1775-2025; maybe Lex250 instead of 250 • Some discussion on whether designs could be combined but central feature not being not original made jury uncomfortable to move forward with original winner • Public Comment (Anu Arya of Phillip Road) – logos should not be altered since it was a contest; commenter was the parent of someone who had also submitted a design for the contest • Committee clarified that the judging was done by a jury of various experts that every submission was reviewed in detail • Mr. O’Shaughnessy made a motion to choose this logo and have not too much alteration Ms. Fallick– seconded – all voted in favor • Discussion of options to reveal the design and adding it to the video. • Discussion on putting logo on t-shirts and possible cost. Ms. Barry would reach out to Tricon and/or Jane Foley re costs and logistics given tight timeline. Youth Commission all set to hand out 10K flags so maybe 1000 shirts. Costs of shirts at $10-$12 or if pressed for time 500; range of sizes. • Ms. Barry spoke with Jim Wilson re: doing a float with the logo • Highlight all three winners during the ceremonies on the Green - Blowing up all three logos may be complicated but doable and winning logo should be bigger • Winner + family on float (up to 4 people ) -- Mr. Connors suggested to confirm that # with Jim Wilson • Ms. Tung will check on pricing on stickers and buttons and will circle back with a red, white and blue version of chosen logo 4. Local and State Updates § Ms. Barry reported that Commonwealth 250 met last week (45+ people) Sen Kennedy and others who are on the Travel and Tourism committee in the State Legislators – mostly intros; 95% of preps are from organizations (Rev 250, Mass Historical, Archives, Cambridge appointed someone from Mass Historical Soc). Also some Education related organizations. Also National Guard was there. Will meet quarterly. Workgroups (Funding, education, DEI and others) There are 351 cities/towns in MA; Commonwealth wide, community wide; will have to produce a report; there will be funding from Fed govt to America 250 and then it will flow to Commonwealth 250 § Another Group comprising Select Board members from different towns has not had its first meeting yet but will meet in the future § Discussed inviting a dozen or so folks from Commonwealth 250 § Ms. Barry and Ms. Roy gave a high level briefing to Town Senior Staff on what we are doing and partnership with all including Fire and Police Chief and respective departments. Meeting included some discussion of possible encampment logistics; noted cannot use Lincoln Park, not at Willards Woods, maybe national park; maybe town of Lincoln could host encampment. Maybe Lexington need not host encampment. § Concerns expressed by members that without encampment will people (e.g. reenactors) be less drawn to Lexington. Noted new superintendent of Minuteman National Park, and Mr. O’Shaughnessy will interface to gauge possible parameters and also think about proposing a logistical exercise – similar ones occurred in the past § Ms. Barry noted that Lex250 needed to get a good timeline/roadmap by fall 8. Other Items • Ms. Fallick noted that there needs to be discussion on possible public memorial (where someone has offered money for a monument) – Ms. Barry noted need to circle back to Howard and will come back with next steps including Select Board • Ms. Tung asked can we have a shared google drive for workgroups and Ms. Barry said she would check with counsel • Need to replace School members (either LPS teacher or someone involved like PTA person) 9.
