MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE APPROPRIATION COM"TITTEE <br /> FELD AT T E TO?rT OFFICE TTILDTNG, =AY <br /> ESTE'. r-ar ., Febr ary 1S. 1946. <br /> The meeting was opened in the office of the <br /> Superintendent of Public works at 8:00 P.M. , by Chairman <br /> Lewis T . Hoyt, With the following members in attendance : <br /> Lewis L. royt, Chairman <br /> Jasper A. Lane Harvey P. `"?inlock <br /> Michael J. T'opkins C-eorge <br /> Thacher Jenney Ronald D. Brown <br /> Fred C. TTewhall J. Milton Brown <br /> Raymond L. Mice, <br /> Torn Accountant <br /> This is to he a point meeting with the Board of <br /> Selectmen for the purpose of once again going over the <br /> Budgets. In the meantime the Preamble was read and corrected. <br /> At 8:40 P.TT. , the Appropriation Committee was <br /> invited to meet ri th the Board of Selectmen. The Secretary <br /> of the Aporonriat' on Committee read fi -° ares available, <br /> nertai n7 nc, to the tax rate, which amm'nted to a 38.20 rate. <br /> In this calculation, '4.20 was the estimated amount for <br /> State Tax and Estimated Receipts. There -as some aue^tion <br /> with regards to the State Tax, and the Secretary stated that <br /> this is only an estimate and posslhly the case rill be that <br /> i_t will really amount to about 11.50 on the tax rate. This <br /> would make a tax rate of ';35.70. <br /> °;r. Rowse, a member of the Boy rd of Selectmen, <br /> suggested that the first thin ; that sh-'uld be done is to go <br /> over the T»dgets to see ,'here e could cut down the tax rate. <br /> The first Budget reconsidered was Town offices 9- <br /> Cary Memorial '?azi..ldi n - Expenses. The f,';30r,.0o requested for <br /> curtains in the Selectmen's Room was eliminated. The Budget <br /> was reduced from $3,000.00 to $7,700.00. This was previously <br /> approved by the Aporonriati on Committee on January 21, 1946 <br /> for ;;8,000.00. <br />
