' 4 1 't' <br /> Article 23. - There is some question in the minds of this Committee <br /> as to whether this type of insurance is essential at this time. <br /> Therefore, re do not recommend favorable action under this Article. <br /> Article 27. - Pecause of war-time conditions, the Appropriation Com- <br /> mittee believes that this is an inopportune time to initiate a re- <br /> port of this kind, although under normal conditions we believe that <br /> it has some merit. Therefore, this Committee does not approve any <br /> appropriation for this project under this Article. <br /> Article 32. - The Appropriation Committee recommends unfavorable <br /> acts.on under this Article . <br /> Article 33. - The Appropriation Committee recommends no action under <br /> this Article. <br /> At' 11:30 P.M. Mr. A. Edward Rowse, Chairman of the Board <br /> of Selectmen, entered this meeting. He was asked the reason for <br /> the Board of Selectmen' s purchase of Harrod' s land for the proposed <br /> site of the new Fast Lexington Fire Station and also the reason <br /> for wanting to acquire the property of Bridget Leary. Mr. Rowse <br /> stated that the Board felt that the Harrod property was an ideal <br /> spot for the Fast LexinMton Fire Station and that the Leary prop- <br /> erty was necessary in order to have a combined Fire and Police Sta- <br /> tion on the land of the Barnes and Leary property. 7r. Rowse stated <br /> that the Board of Selectmen had voted to make the following trans- <br /> fers from the Excess and Deficiency Account: <br /> Bonus _)15;000.00 <br /> Fence to enclose fields 4;000:00 <br /> Ladder Truck 14;100.00 <br /> Flag Pole for the Common 3;500.00 <br /> Plans for Central Fire Station 3,750.00 <br /> Plans for East Lexington Fire Station 750.00 <br /> The Board of Selectmen recommended the transfers as sub- <br /> mitted by this Committee. <br /> Mr. Rowse left the meeting at 12 :40 A.M. <br /> Article 33 Reconsidered <br /> The Appropriation Committee recommends that consideration <br /> be given to the proposed site of the East Lexington Fire Station on <br /> the property of the old Adams School. "'e recommend the appointment <br /> of a Building Committee by the Moderator and the appropriation of <br /> the sum of ')750.00, this sum to be transferred from the Excess and <br /> Deficiency Account. <br />
