Last year the mechanic' s compensation was in- <br /> cluded in the private ' s appropriation. <br /> Ambulance Maintenance - Total X200_.00 <br /> • <br /> This is the same as last year's appropriation. <br /> The Board of Fire Engineers left this meeting at 10:00 <br /> P.Yr. <br /> ********** <br /> Mr. George T. Fanery, Finance Officer of the Committee <br /> of Public Safety, stated that the Committee on Public Safety were <br /> asking for no additional appropriation as the balance of the bond <br /> issue of approximately U,378.53 would be sufficient for the com- <br /> ing year. <br /> The three items now active are the Personal Services, <br /> Telephones and Observation Tower Accounts. The Observation Tower <br /> costs about 40.00 a month to operate. Mr. Emery stated that at <br /> least 2 of the Secretary' s salary should be paid by the proper <br /> departments using her services. Mr. Emery also stated that the <br /> way things are now a full-time girl is not necessary. <br /> Mr. Emery left this meeting at 10 :10 P.M. <br /> Chairman Levis L. Hoyt read a letter from the Board of <br /> Selectmen requesting a transfer of '', 460.00 from the Reserve Fund <br /> to Insect Suppression - Wages Expenses Account to take care of <br /> the purchase of 1960.00 worth of arsenate of lead. A motion was <br /> made, seconded and voted to transfer the sum of X460.00 from the <br /> Reserve Fund to Insect Suppression - Wages & Expenses Account. <br /> Chairman A. Edward Rowse of the Board of Selectmen en- <br /> tered this meeting and stated that the Board of Selectmen had ap- <br /> proved a transfer of *1,700.00 from the Reserve Fund to Old Age <br /> Assistance - Aid RI Expenses Account to take care of the reauire- <br /> ments for the remainder of the year. Federal funds will be re- <br /> ceived late in December of this year, but too late to use on Dec- <br /> ember 15th Cash Grants. That is the reason for requesting the <br /> transfer. A motion was made, seconded and voted to transfer the <br /> sum of X1,700.00 from the Reserve Fund to Old Age Assistance - <br /> Aid Ry Expenses Account. <br /> Richard W. Maynard, Vice-Chairman of the Appropriation <br /> Committee, stated that he had a talk with Yr. Thomas S. Grindle <br /> about the bonus. From their conversation, Mr. Maynard gathered <br /> that the School Committee had in mind a bonus near 15%. Chairman <br /> Hoyt stated that one or two of the Selectmen feel that the bonus <br /> should be held at 10%. <br />
