MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE <br /> HELD AT 'TATE TOWN OFFICE BUIT.T)ING, MONDAY <br /> EVENING, OCTOBER 25, 1943. <br /> The meeting was opened in the Town Accountant' s office <br /> at 8:00 P.M. by Chairman Lewis L. Hoyt, with the following mem- <br /> bers in attendance : <br /> Lewis L. Hoyt, Chairman <br /> George M. Hynes Richard T!r. Maynard <br /> Carl '. Bryant Ronald D. Brown <br /> Harvey F. Winlock Thatcher Jenney <br /> Fred C. Newhall Raymond A. Bond <br /> Raymond L. Z'Jhite, Town Accountant <br /> Minutes of the Meeting held September 20, 1943. . <br /> It was regularly moved and voted to dispense with the <br /> reading of the minutes of the regular meeting held September 20, <br /> 1943. <br /> *******-::-* ** <br /> Chairman Lewis L. Hoyt read a letter from the Board of <br /> Selectmen, requesting a transfer from the Reserve Fund to the <br /> Elections Department - Expenses - Selectmen in the amount of <br /> ' 37.03. This transfer is necessary to meet the payment of a bill <br /> for envelopes which were ordered for that Department in March. <br /> A motion was made, seconded and voted to transfer the <br /> sum of ?37.03 from the Reserve Fund to Elections Department - Ex- <br /> penses - Selectmen. <br /> The School Committee, consisting of Randall B. Houghton, <br /> Tracy Ames, Mrs. Luther R. Putney and Thomas S. Grindle, <br /> entered the meeting at 8:05 P.M. Mr. Randall B. Hougliton, Chairman, <br /> was the speaker, He said that the School Committee decided that <br /> something should be done in the way of increases to the teachers, <br /> due to the increase in the cost of living. He also stated that <br /> his Committee had definite demands from the janitors for more money <br /> and these demands were granted in order to hold the janitors. This <br /> Committee also has demands from the men and women teachers for more <br /> money on account of the increased cost of living. Mr. Roughton <br /> said that the result of all this, reduced to figures, is as follows : <br />
